  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Biggest loser on CF.....

weights today. arms.

Oh, and I diced up a bunch of spinach, brocolli, carrots, cucumbers and red onion. threw some lemon juice in to help it keep, froze half, then the other half I'll eat over the week with vinegar and oil.

Easiest way for me to get my vegetables.

Sounds like a good bit of vegetables!

I went back to weights, but did a short set... only chest/leg extension/bicep curl/stomach. Tomorrow would it be bad for me to do leg press? I was thinking if it would be possible to work gluts and hamstrings I would. Also I will work back and shoulders.

When you're trying to lose weight or gain muscle neither are good for you. Alcohol messes with fat breakdown AND growth hormones.

Red wine does have the antioxidant thing going for it.

Then again, beer used to be rationed out on ships for it's vitamin B content.

Me personally, if I was watching the calories to the point where one beverage mattered, you can water down your wine, or go with a low cal low carb beer.

I havent found any that I'd drink regularly but Beck's Preimer is the front runner in my book at 60 cals a serving considering Heinekin light tastes like Heniken light.

On the other hand though, a 12 oz Guinness has 126 cals. Compared to soda, that's the way to go hands down. And if Guinness tastes heavy it's becase your tounge needs exercise.

One word of caution though, and I speak from experience. DO NOT DRINK GUINNESS DURING A WORKOUT. Not even on St. Patty's Day.

My friends in cross country in college had this thing where they would drink a beer, run a lap, drink a beer, run a lap, until they had done a large number. Seemed crazy to me, most people puked (Sometimes multiple times).

jeeeze what ru a rabitt...

When I was trying to lose weight, I would eat 6+ servings of fresh veggies (With no dressing/etc) per day. That is a very large amount of veggies, enough that I would often be sick of it by the time I finished it.

When I was a valet we'd progressively stuff crackers in our mouths as we ran back to get cars.

Start with one, then two, then see who can't finish their mouthful of crackers by the time they have to talk to the driver.

I'm starting a sub-challenge to this challenge with a girl at work.

30 days - $10/week. I will lose 10lbs, she will stop smoking. If only one of us makes our goal, we get all the $$. If we both do, we get our half of the $$ back.

pics of smoke pls.

wait...

I really just want her to quit smoking. She has two small kids and she smokes around them all the time (even if she didn't, there is the whole residue issue). It seemed like a good way to get her to do it. :)

I admire your intentions but weight loss and stopping smoking, etc, are not things other people can push you into.

The only way those ever work is when the person is ready to do it themselves.

That said, if she's ready or on the fence or something you may be the push she needs.

anywho

Well, I want to lose the weight and she has been cutting back on how much she smokes since the beginning of the year - so...hopefully this is the shove she needs and it keeps me moving in the right direction for some more weight loss.

That reminds me of my buddy and I's buy in system for our weight loss comp.

you could buy "stock" in the competitors, so even if you didn't win the contest you could still make a profit in the market.

I have to admit, I've done awful. I have been dealing with a lot of issues and I have actually gained weight.

Well, today, I am taking a stand. I am no longer eating crap just because it's cheaper and easier. I am not going to eat fast food for convenience. I am no longer going to accept eating for comfort or out of boredom.

I've done really well today. I have decided I can no longer look at this as a big long term goal, because it is a huge mountain to climb. What I can do is eat right and exercise today. Anybody can make it one day. Today, I choose to do it right.

I have to wake up in the morning realizing that I only have to make it through today. That is what I have to do now.
