I think Reagans cabinet just cut him out of loop a lot. He wasnt even deeply involved in a lot of policy after a while. Thats the Iran-Contra excuse anyway, and Im inclined to believe it

I have quite recently heard Biden take unscripted questions from press and respond coherently. Its a situation that would have stymied and befuddled the hapless Reagan in his 2nd term.

There's definitely some Biden comments that Ive thought were either too honest (no filter) or not honest enough (cya) to pass unnoticed. And I can sense some mental frailty. But hes not degraded to 2nd term Reagan yet. Not even to GW Bush in his state deep into the Iraq 2 war.

Let's hope it doesn't end up with Biden having to do a major mea culpa like Reagan did. His public apology kind of made him look like either he willfully turned a blind eye or he had no contact with his own administration who were doing crimes on his watch.

I've heard that U.S. Grant's administration was horrifically corrupt because Grant was a poor judge of character and wound up with one of the most corrupt administrations in history. Maybe Reagan was like that: just a really bad executive or was unable to comprehend what was being done in his name.

I hope a similar fate doesn't befall Biden.

We often think that the times we live in are somehow "unprecedented" when, in fact, history shows us that is not always the case.

While Biden shows signs of age and slowed speech (in part possibly due to a life-long speech impediment which makes the usual age-related slowing much more noticeable) we also know that many other Presidents (like George W. Bush) stumbled and sounded incoherent from time to time.

I agree, Biden is far too old to be President. As Reagan was, as Trump was. But I have difficulty thinking Biden is wholly "incompetent".
