Shutdown domestic oil pipeline and make America more dependent on foreign oil then turn around and lift sanctions on Russia and free them up to build an oil pipeline to Germany. Why? Clown world.

Senator Tom Cotton, R-Ark., told "The Faulkner Focus" Wednesday that President Biden is putting "America last" after he halted the Keystone pipeline, and gave the approval for a controversial gas pipeline to run from Russia to Germany.

SEN. TOM COTTON: Joe Biden is shutting down American pipelines like the Keystone XL pipeline, but he's helping construct pipelines for Russia. This is Putin's number one foreign policy priority so he can make Western Europe more dependent on Russian gas and so he can bypass our NATO allies of the east, isolating them further.

Joe Biden apparently is going to allow this pipeline to go forward, even though he has power that Congress passed on a bipartisan basis to sanction the owners and the operators of this pipeline. I guess because he doesn't want to offend Germany's delicate sensibilities.

It just goes to show you how Joe Biden is putting America last. If he's shutting down American pipelines, provide good high-paying American jobs, yet he's letting Vladimir Putin build a pipeline to Western Europe despite his opportunity to stop it.

It's Jimmy Carter part duex....

Next is rapid inflation and rising interest rates - higher taxes on everyone and higher cost of living.

The good news is that the failure of the last Jimmy Carter brought in 12 years of Republican leadership. There is the chance of the same thing happening with this one.

To bring down capitalism and replace it with socialism, or communism for those that desire more control. That's my quess.

Ummm, keystone is hardly making USA energy independent. It is moving Canadian Tar Sands oil from Canada to the Gulf to be exported.

Tar sands oil is also more corrosive than regular sources of crude and indeed studies show that pipelines carrying unconventional crudes like that are more prone to LEAKS. Which is a BAD thing.

So let's dial it back a bit on declaring Biden's utter failure. Maybe if we learn a little more about what is going on it becomes somewhat less "nefarious".

Shouldn't you learn a bit more about petroleum sources before jumping all the way to "bringing down capitalism"? Seems there might be a few important steps missing in there.

And when Morning in America dawned in 1980 it was start of nearly 40 years of stagnant middle class income growth while the ultrawealthy got more and more of the pie.

Yay Trickle Down Economics!

Jimmy Carter committed the worst sin of asking Americans to be adults. He didn't understand the audience.

Maybe I'm missing it. How is Canadian oil or German power consumption have anything to do with the US being first, last, or in the middle? I thought the whole idea behind "America First" was we simply looked out for our own interests and let everyone else look out for theirs?

Americans are terrible at geography. Some of them still think the earth is flat.

...America consistently ranks lower in education scores than many, many developed nations. Ironically that was long before Biden took office. But I'm sure Biden is responsible.

Capitalism does not necessarily mean less control of the lives of the citizens. Only less restraint on their "BETTERS", and a more subtle control.

No. It isn't just the oil that makes me say that. That is only a part of the whole thing. I don't need to know about petroleum sources, it is a bunch of excuses is all as far as I am concerned..

I don't think I've met a conservative who crowed on about the Keystone XL pipeline who had any clue what they were talking about - or like Senator Cotton, weren't just nakedly disingenuous about it.

And Biden didn't "lift sanctions on Russia." He levied sanctions on a bunch of players on this Russia-Germany pipeline, but not the German contractor overseeing it.

Yes some here even.
Begin quote
"The proposed Phase IV, Keystone XL (sometimes abbreviated KXL, with XL standing for "export limited"[18]) Pipeline, would connect the Phase I-pipeline terminals in Hardisty, Alberta, and Steele City, Nebraska, by a shorter route and a larger-diameter pipe.[19] It would run through Baker, Montana, where American-produced light crude oil from the Williston Basin (Bakken formation) of Montana and North Dakota would be added[12] to the Keystone's throughput of synthetic crude oil (syncrude) and diluted bitumen (dilbit) from the oil sands of Canada." End quote
Um Montana and North Dakota are in America, not Canada.

That info is a little misleading. While Keystone XL would include some capacity for transporting oil from the Williston Basin, that capacity currently is completely unnecessary. Existing pipelines are more than sufficient to handle the current output from the region. During the oil boom that happened there about 10 years ago, the extra transport capacity would have been useful - though not necessary - and if there's a similar ramp-up in production in the future, it could lead to similar bottlenecks, but it's not currently needed.

Your Question Answered: Would Keystone XL’s oil compete with Bakken crude if built?

There are also additional regional pipelines being planned/approved that would accomplish the same things as the piggyback on Keystone. Since they're transporting oil of the same grade as other basins in the region, they don't need a full pipeline to the Gulf - they just need to tie into the existing network. For example: PSC approves Bridge pipeline, an alternate route for up to 50,000 barrels of Bakken crude

Cotton might not be disingenuous -- he might be legitimately ignorant.
