Good morning to you all, although it will soon be good night for me. I will likely be posting the day's reading around 4 or 5 in the morning central time this next week as I work during the nights for now, that way for the majority of you who rise at a normal time you have the reading then and there instead of having to wait for me to awaken myself. ^_^

So we will begin the tenth week with Genesis chapters 36 through 39.

What a whirlwind adventure our man Joseph is experiencing right now, amiright?

(Although, seriously, you have to admire how he stood strong and refused the advances of Potiphar's wife, even going so far as to literally break free of her grasp and flee the house when her persistence became downright personal.)

__________

But now, this morning, we start a new day in books of History with one of my personal favorites in Scripture, the entire book of Ruth, a great little - almost fairy-talish - story about a Moabite girl whose admirable love for her mother-in-law Naomi appears to lead her to become a believer in the one true God despite her non-Jewish national origins and into the arms of a kindly, Godly man of dignity and respect named Boaz, and so forth part of the ancestry of our Savior Himself. :)

(Boaz is easily the man in all of Scripture aside from Christ whom I admire most. His personal attributes that I see from the story in Ruth appeal particularly to me. :) )

One of the psalms david writes or sings that even when his mother and father forsake him, the Lord will take him up. That is comforting for me.

Apparently David was picked on as a child, he was the 'runt' of the litter, I can imagine his birth parents preferred his stronger brothers.

and yet david basically murdered his best friend. I still like him a lot though. it was just surprising that he did that. hezekiah, david and solomon were my favorite kings.

and david was a beast. he killed goliath with a stone. he was still much more humble than most leaders are.

This morning we will be ending another book with the first gospel of Matthew, chapters 26 through 28.

I implore you to remember Christ and Him crucified for our iniquities as you read this, above all else, and that God raised Him from the dead and now He lives, so that one day, we can be raised back up from death to a new life, an eternal life with Him if we only believe. "And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

:)

Im just wondering where arimithea is?
Its interesting that it was Joseph who begged the body of Jesus. But it would not have been the same Joseph that was his earthly dad? Its a bit of a mystery what happened to him as he isnt mentioned at all during Jesus ministry and crucifixtion.

Early morning to ya, people. We move on to 1 Samuel 1 through 5 today in the history books. Where I believe we get a gander at the priest Eli's fifteen minutes of fame in the Bible and Hannah's blessing from God of being able to bear a child when she prayed unceasingly for it. :)

What, is eliphaz saying Job turned away the poor and fatherless? And heaped riches upon himself? I always thought Job was upright and honorable. Hmm

I thought Eliphaz was saying it hypothetically, like IF you have been a wicked person in this way. And judging Job once again way too fast as having done something - anything - evil enough to deserve this wrath from God (again, it is mistaken to think that, as it was Satan, not God, who caused the calamity, but everyone in this book seems to put the blame on God). But Eoliphaz would not know as to whether Job despite his riches never used them to help the poor in any way or not, so, either way, I think Eliphaz was wrong to say this.
