OK, so I think the 69 Weeks, which either lasted 476 actual years or 483 actual years, only form part of the 3965 years- other steps include the Genealogies of Genesis 5 and 11 which take us from Adam to Terah's birth, the 205 years of Genesis 11:32, the 430 years of Exodus 12:40-41, the 480 years of 1 Kings 6:1, the period of the Kings and the 70 year exile, which I think all follow on from one another to tell us that the period from Adam's creation to the event in Jesus' life that marked the end of Daniel's 69 Weeks, lasted 3965 years. We then add on the number of years from that event to 2018, which is a period of either around 1988 years or 2022 years, to calculate that 2018 is within a year or two of 5955 or 5987.How do you get from 69 weeks to 3965 years and then to 5955/5987 years?
I also read that you think the final week refers to seven years before the return of Jesus. How do you justify a time gap between the 69th week and the 70th week? And why then do you read the final week as 7 years and not, as you seem to do with the earlier 69 weeks, as thousands of years?
Regarding your second point, I think that the 'city and sanctuary being destroyed' in Daniel 9:26 is a reference to the destruction of Jerusalem by the Roman Army in AD70. Since it is mentioned after the 69th Week, I think that the prophecy is telling us that it would occur after the end of the 69th Week. Now, I think an event in Jesus' life marked the end of the 69th Week, which means since Jesus was crucified by AD 34 at the latest, that there were at least 36 years (AD 70 minus AD 34) between the end of the 69th Week and the beginning of the 70th Week in Daniel 9:27, which means, since that period is greater than 7 years, the length of the 70th Week, that Daniel's 70 Weeks is not a continuous period, that it in fact measures two time periods, the 69 Weeks of Daniel 9:25 and the 1 Week, the 70th Week, of Daniel 9:27.
I don't think the events of the 70th Week have happened yet, and, by combining it with other passages of scripture, mainly from Daniel and the Book of Revelations, I think the 70th Week represents a 7 year period that I think will end with the Battle described in Revelation 19:17-21.
