  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My two hobbies are photography and bicycling... The two go together pretty well, and so I often take days off and go for long trips looking for good places to take pictures of landmarks and scenery. I took these pictures last Saturday during a 42 Mile run out of town. The big picture is viewing Mt. Raineer from a site near Orting, WA. The panoramic one was taken at about 9:00 AM just west of Puyallup. I used a photo editing program to create the special affect there. Enjoy!

I found this guy paddling about on a forest pond a mile from my house. I especially liked the colours and the reflections from the water.

Shot with Canon Digital Rebel, Quantaray 70-300 f/4.0-5.6 TeleMacro lens and 1A skylight filter
Focal length 300mm; ISO 400; Shutter speed 1/500; aperture 7.1
No editing, other than resaving it as an 800KB file (from a 2,600KB file)

Larry,

No need to take offense. I offered what I thought was constructive criticism, and only because I liked your photo. Obviously you chose to shoot it differently than I would. I'm not trying to get into a debate over what is right or wrong, only trying to learn why you shot it differently.

If you post your work in a public place, you needn't react so defensively when someone offers their opinion.
