  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey all,

I just want to start a new life. I want to leave everything I did in the past and I want to start my life following Jesus.

What I ask of you is to help me find Scriptures that show me of how to live. What to do. How to be more like Christ in my everyday life. The more the better. Please, I need your assistance.

If I were you I'd start by reading the gospels....the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in the Bible. They detail the life and teachings of Jesus.
That's a very good place to start. I believe most pastors and youth ministers recommend this as well.

God Bless,
Justin.

I agree Ic3,

You've been guided well from previous posts

I'd like to add this, if I may. As you're searching the Word,
be prayerful and approach it with no agenda. Just simply
read to see what the Word says. It's incredibly easy as
believers to see only what we want to see, rather than
seeing what God has actually written. Experience taught me
the better way, and I pass it on to you. . .

Blessings!

“Obey your leaders and defer to them, for they keep watch over you and will have to give an account, that they may fulfill their task with joy and not with sorrow, for that would be of no advantage to you.” (Heb. 13:17)

“We did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we had been eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received honor and glory from God the Father when that unique declaration came to him from the majestic glory, "This is my Son, my beloved, with whom I am well pleased." We ourselves heard this voice come from heaven while we were with him on the holy mountain. Moreover, we possess the prophetic message that is altogether reliable. You will do well to be attentive to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation, for no prophecy ever came through human will; but rather human beings moved by the holy Spirit spoke under the influence of God.” (2 Pet. 1:16–21, 3:2)

I praise you because you remember me in everything and hold fast to the traditions, just as I handed them on to you (1 Cor 11:2)

But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth. (1 Tim 3:15)

See how a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. (James 2:24)

You will never become like Jesus by your own strength, you may as well give up that route right away.

You are probably a lot like your father. Consider why that is, because the same principle is at work between you and God. Spend time with Him and you will become more like Him. Talk to Him. Walk boldly into the holy of holies, realize that you are already His child, already forgiven, already righteous.

I recommend reading Ephesians 4:28 to 4:32 Also read Romans 12:9 to 12:21.Also read from Matthew 5:21 to 7:13. I recommend reading the whole Bible but those scriptures should give you instructions how to live a holy life...God Bless :amen:

Romans 3:22"This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."

The best way is to read everything Jesus said.

Jesus made a great speech called the beatitudes in it He gave us a great number of teachings you would do well to read it.

The speech is in the Gospel of Matthew, chapters 5, 6 and 7. Happy reading.

We are justified by what Jesus did. If you think you can do better then good luck to you but you will be held accountable one day my friend.

Faith without works is dead but God does not wait for us to produce works for our salvation, we are saved by grace.

Did God wait for the Israelites to be good before he delivered them out of Egypt? No! They were saved by grace.
God gave them the laws (works) only AFTER he saved them.

This is the same God and the same grace.

You are justified by grace because of your faith in Jesus.

But if you leave it at that your faith is dead, that is why works are essential.

But no works on its own without God's grace & what Jesus did can save us.

This includes penance & confession to another man. We only need to confess to God.
