Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.
I agree with you , One Voice Among Many , and with President Obama , Cardinal Nichols , and the Archbishop of Canterbury .
I think we are in good company .
One more whose words I can quote on this issue is our Holy Father , Pope Francis .
Pope Francis has said, " The speed with which information is communicated exceeds our capacity for reflection and judgement, and this does not make for more balanced and proper forms of self-expression. The variety of opinions being aired can be seen as helpful, but it also enables people to barricade themselves behind sources of information which only confirm their own wishes and ideas, or political and economic interests. The world of communications can help us either to expand our knowledge or to lose our bearings. "
I've been a member of countless forums beginning in 1997. I've never had such a hard time with "you're not allowed to debate on this thread" as I'm having here. It seems to be imperative that you carefully read the thread location and any relevant rules in the forum rules before you post anything on a thread.A reminder for non-Catholic visitors and visitors who aren't members of this faith group:
No debating is allowed in this forum.

That makes sense. I've noticed that I can't post even if I want to in the singles forums. I assume that is because I have the attribute "married". Maybe they could do that with denominational forums as well.Perhaps the forums you have been a member of have not been visited by those whose primary purpose is to post anti-Catholicism .
It is sad that we have to have these rules , but there are some so-called Christian forums which display an anti-Catholicism which I thought had disappeared decades ago .
One "Catholic forum" I used to be a member of was persistently wrecked by anti-Catholic bigots .
Yes , hence the concern of so many leaders regarding social media .Western people love polemic, not consensus building. And the internet has become a giant playground for polemicism.
We can hope , sister .@Colin, this continuous outright disregard for this forum's Statement of Purpose and rules by non-Catholic members has really got out of hand, so I reported it to an administrator. Hopefully this problem will be dealt with very soon and the continuous violation of these rules will be stopped.
Most of my Catholic friends stopped taking Francis serious a long time ago.Yes , hence the concern of so many leaders regarding social media .
It's worth reflecting on some more words of Pope Francis......
" What is it, then, that helps us, in the digital environment, to grow in humanity and mutual understanding?
" We need, for example, to recover a certain sense of deliberateness and calm.
" This calls for time and the ability to be silent and to listen.
" We need also to be patient if we want to understand those who are different from us.
" People only express themselves fully when they are not merely tolerated, but know that they are truly accepted.
" If we are genuinely attentive in listening to others, we will learn to look at the world with different eyes and come to appreciate the richness of human experience as manifested in different cultures and traditions. "

Yep. That's how they see it.Just like St. Francis, he takes reforming the Church seriously. And that's bound to ruffle feathers.
the current occupant in the White House (who it seems was unfortunately elected by the compromise of religious faith, moral convictions and traditional values) is well known for his dishonesty.
Why did they do this ?Most of my Catholic friends stopped taking Francis serious a long time ago.
Whilst you are composing your answer to my question , just a few words .Most of my Catholic friends stopped taking Francis serious a long time ago.
