Ok, I understand.Kosher is according to the word of the God of Israel.
Halel is offered to allah before it goes to market. I know many would argue the point but allah is NOT the same God as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - even the characteristics of these two are totally different, they are not the same. So Halel is food that has been offered to an idol. While not really a major problem for us, nowadays - but why even support such a group? The money has to go somewhere....just sayin'
Anyway, I got some steamed vegetables last night with some eagerness (they weren't as good as I had hoped) and it came already mixed with a seasoned sauce and there was gelatin in it. I was disappointed, and I don't know if gelatin comes from only pigs, or if it can come from cows too. There was no K on the front of the package. It seems as if gelatin is in increasingly more foods these days. It's as if they couldn't use corn starch these days. I feel bad because gelatin is creeping up everywhere.
