  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is a nice approach. I might try that.

I only present Isa. 65 & 66 to others because they are so clear on YHWH's views about those that break His dietary laws. YHWH also used those passages to free me from my own disobedience in this area.
Yes, I know but I've seen many that counter that with , that's not until the new kingdom or something like that.

You can always hit 'em with 'WWJD? If they want to be like Messiah, this is part of it. ;)

I have been guilty of being very preachy :preach: about pork and shellfish in the past, then some time later, in secret...

:burglar: gave into temptation and had a burger with added bacon at Burger King.

Then, even worse - buying a pack at the grocery store hoping no one would see me! :D

Currently, I am pork free and have been for many months.

So I can do this again. :preach: And this :liturgy:, and pretend to be this: :holy:

I once made some "tofu bacon" (tofu marinaded and dehydrated) and my friends loved it! Alas...I cannot find the recipe.

If I should find it, I'll try to remember this thread.

Bacon! You are my bane! Begone, foul beast! :p

Have you tried turkey bacon? It's what I use for BLTs. Pretty good! :)

Yes, I have! But it's been a long time - I can't find it here in Australia(I'm originally from the USA). It's a sin I tell you! A sin that it's not available! Or...being hidden from me. Hmm. Turkey bacon conspiracy...^_^

Try looking for Amy's, they are kosher, vegan, non GMO, and organic. And very good. I get the Gluten free kind and like all I've tried. They also make soups too (canned). They have Indian and Mexican dishes as well as Italian and American so there is a large choice.

What major store sells Amy's? I can't recall ever seeing that brand before.

I've tried both turkey and beef bacon, but neither crisp up like pork bacon. They are bad bacon, bad bacon, (bacon is about the only thing 'pork' that I miss...).

Hickory smoked or honey glazed ham, pork rinds, BBQ'd ribs, Canadian bacon (which isn't really bacon), sausage, ... but I'll live without it.

Shell fish- now that's another story. I may die! But don't eat it any more either. I should'a gave this here Messianic thing more thought before I signed on!

That's one thing that really 'gets' me. People talk about us deciding to become messianic like we'd decide to order a turkey sandwich rather than a hamburger. This life is one of joy and delight but it's also difficult, quite a culture shocker to say the least! I don't think anyone just "decides" to walk this road - it's a calling. And it's something most of us walked into slowly, step by step, as we were led of Ruach haKodesh. I don't think too many jumped head first into the deep end (a few maybe  ). But once we sign on the dotted line we wonder why we didn't do it sooner!! It's sooo worth the little bit if difficulty! What joy there is each and every day, but especially on our special appointment day, Shabbes, with our King and Father! A whole day He sets aside each week just for us! What a privilege to know, to love and to serve Him!

Shabbat Shalom ya'll!

Here's a store locator you can check with

EarthFare, Giant Eagle and some Wal*Mart's carry this brand. :)

Thank you so much. I have never ever seen that brand and yet it's supposed to be carried right at the store I always use!! I'll have to look more closely next month and may be able to pick up a few (something to look forward to).

Cool. I'll check next month when I have some grocery money. The store is right next door in one of the little mall 'festival' thingys. I actually motor over there to go to Target when the weather is good to be outside in it. It's close enough that I can even haul a couple bags full of food home.
