No, you dont get it. The definition of treason does not say that we have to be at war, and that the criminal is only a criminal is they help the enemy in war.

As I pointed out, legal treason does. As for your definition, as I also pointed out, Congress declares who is an enemy and who is not. And they can change their mind.

These Congressmen did not aid an enemy, did not aid someone we're at war with, and thus did nothing even remotely treasonous.

It says ENEMY in the definition. You cant admit when you are wrong, that is obvious.

You can't admit to flinging a treason charge on grounds so ludicrous that ambassadors would be 'treasonous' for trying to end wars.

Heck, for trying to prevent them.

treason

\Trea"son\, n. [OE. tresun, treisun, traisoun, OF. tra["i]son, F. trahison, L. traditio a giving up, a delivering up, fr. tradere to give up, betray. See Traitor, and cf. Tradition.] 1. The offense of attempting to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance, or of betraying the state into the hands of a foreign power; disloyalty; treachery.

The treason of the murthering in the bed. --Chaucer.

Note: In monarchies, the killing of the sovereign, or an attempt to take his life, is treason. In England, to imagine or compass the death of the king, or of the queen consort, or of the heir apparent to the crown, is high treason, as are many other offenses created by statute. In the United States, treason is confined to the actual levying of war against the United States, or to an adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.

2. Loosely, the betrayal of any trust or confidence; treachery; perfidy.

If he be false, she shall his treason see. --Chaucer.

Petit treason. See under Petit.

Souljah;
Please be so kind as to tell us exactly what actions or words of these persons constituted treason.

Further, please tell us if any representatives of the Vatican have ever convened with Iraqi representatives.

You already know that they dont support it, because they dont have a clear proof of the threat, which is needed to have a just war.

What is your point?  Do you think the Vatican thinks for me?  You keep bringing up the Vatican, but you dont even understand their role in the lives of Catholics!

Ambassadors dont side with evil dictators. You admitted Saddam is an evil dictator, didnt you? Do you claim he isnt our enemy?

LOL

That is a very serious claim s0uljah.  Do you have evidence whatsoever that these Senators are siding with an evil dictator?  Do you think that it is at all possible that these senators are trying to save lives by avoiding a bloody war (a war that the Vatican claims is unnecessary btw).

I want to remind you that Christians believe that it is a sin to bear false witness.  If you truly believe that these senators wish only to betray our nation then I would hope you would have some evidence to the claim.

Is Collin Powell a traitor every time he heads off the the middle east to meet with our potential foes?

Is it possible that you have just said something foolish in the heat of a debate?

LOL

We sided with (and armed) Iraq when they were at war with Iran didn't we?

We sided with (and armed) the Afghani's (including Osoma Bin Laden) when Afghanistan was at war with the Russian's didn't we?

Shall I continue?

Ronald Reagan did, after all. Did he commit treason by arming Saddam in the eighties?

Did Powell commit treason by meeting with the head of North Korea?

Do you claim he isnt our enemy?

LOL

Offhand, no, he's not. We do business with lots of evil dictators we dislike and who dislike us. Until we're formally at war with him, he's not our enemy anymore than all the other evil dictators we happily support or deal with.

So, come on Souljah. You've accused Congressmen of treason. What specific treasonous acts did they commit?

Two very excellent points.  I would further ask if the Pope was a traitor by aiding Hitler.

No, I think they want to secure their political power by making sure that Bush doesnt get re-elected.  Wars have a nasty habit of helping the President to stay President.

No, he wasnt our enemy then. We play other countries when it suits us, but we dont side with our enemies in order to make the president look bad, simply for political gain
