Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I had to brag on my daughter. She spent a month and a half in calcutta early this year, volunteering in a school for the children of the brothel workers. The female children of sex workers are about 95% sure to do the same thing their mother did to survive. The boys get into all kinds of tough spots, too. This school was set up to TRY to give them a way out. Many kids live on the premises and they teach during the day and at night. They try to stay available as a refuge for the kids, because otherwise many of them would be in the room while their mothers were "working."
My daughter was profoundly moved and spends all of her time trying to figure out a way to earn enough money to go back. (This is the 3rd trip abroad i have paid for. she's on her own from here on out!)
