I am a Charismatic Aspie who has both
experienced deliverance
AND been
involved in deliverance ministry. My most frequently recurring gifts have been
Discerning of spirits and
Word of Wisdom. I am not offended at this question; it certainly must be considered. I have two children who are low-functioning autistics. Any part of me that is demonic in origin, I freely invite deliverance for, temporal benefits notwithstanding.
That being said, sometimes outsiders miss a lot of important details. As I go on, I have come to believe that autism without any other complications (a.k.a. Aspergers) may be an expression of the prophetic personality type mentioned in Romans 12:6. We have always been here. Undeveloped, we appear as geeks, nerds, etc. Professionally, we tend to be engineers, scientists and other academics.
Autism (in
that sense) is not new. What
is new is the increase of associated conditions found beginning in my children's generation, such as mutism, infantilism (for lack of a better word). That kind of autism (a.k.a. LFA, low-functioning autism) used to occur in 1:1000 births. Now,
those numbers are 4 to 5:1000!
People from all over the spectrum frequently experience depression, suicidality, anxiety attacks, etc. When those are experienced in conjunction with autism, they are known (in psych circles) as co-morbid conditions, but they are auxiliary to autism itself (and not every Aspie/autistic has them).
It is the LFA and co-morbid features that strongly present as candidates for healing and/or deliverance. Further, both groups appear to be Aspies with complications (not non-Aspies). Studies show that LFAs frequently have family histories of mathematicians, engineers, scientists, etc. (I am a retired systems analyst.) Once an LFA experiences a necessary healing and/or deliverance, they will still likely present as a nerd, geek, engineer or prophet-type eccentric.
Aspie sensitivity to
certain vaccines has been implicated in the current epidemic of LFAs
from both natural and curse-borne standpoints. Not all autistics share my point-of-view.
There is so much more that I can share on this issue with fellow Charismatics, but that would probably be better via PMs.
