Okay, I'm going to step in now: this is not what the OP was about. This is not a thread on whether or not... whatever the heck you two are talking about.
Crowns&Laurels, you are misconstruing what I am talking about. I did not start this thread for any sort of attack on Christianity. The issue is in the thread title.
Please, try and get back on topic. This is my first thread on this site, and I would like it to get past at least one page before it has to get closed for going off topic.

Frankly, you want all individuals to respect your beliefs, yet won't theirs. Stop with the double standards and just agree to disagree.

I targeted you because you responded first by saying that this thread was inherently anti-Christian by calling it hypocritical that 'unbelievers' should tell Christians (obviously in your post you mean ALL Christians) to 'sit down, shut up and let what they believe to be untrue reign'. That is sooo far from what I am talking about in the OP.
I was trying to be civil on a topic that I feel does need to be discussed, then you replied that you 'don't see anything but supreme arrogance from unbelievers'.

The best way to handle it, is to either just carry on your discussion and ignore those who want to detract from your thread, or use the handy-dandy "ignore" feature, which allows you to literally ignore people who want to argue.

Notice the quantifier in the title: "Attitude of CERTAIN online Christians and Science...". This thread was not started as an attack on all Christians. You have taken that away from the title, and I do not agree with your claim.

And I have no double standard. If a person wants to believe in Young Earth Creationism, they are free to do so. I do take issue with the idea that their believe is inherently correct and all scientists are wrong, which is what this thread is meant to discuss.

I'd rather not put a person immediately on ignore. I'd only do so if they continually show a haughty and aggressive attitude towards me.

The main nub of my thread will have to be this: WHY do the people in this subset of Christianity hold the view that they are authorities in subjects they know nothing about and will willingly display a shocking level of arrogance when their own holy book tells them that arrogance is something their God despise?

if you have any problems with that, then you need to stay out of the christian only subforums.
OTOH, these same people need to stay out of the "non believer" sub forums.
this might an issue best discussed with staff.

I wouldn't care if they were pagan or atheist, the point is that just by you going right over their anti-Christian statements and right to me just tells me that this thread is just meant to scrutinize and, even if it's in a nice way, call Christians ignorant.

True, I did join this site purely to discuss the topic of the OP because I felt that this forum was a better place to discuss the topic without having to resort of anti-theistic and anti-atheist rants as are prone on other forums I've lurked on.
If that means that you will think of me as a troll, well, that's your prerogative.

Your OP discusses a topic that needs to be denied and ignored by some, because they are the one's engaging in the denial of well evidenced science.

In the process, you will be vilified, because it is uncomfortable for them.
