I think we need more Omega input on this. :)

G-d bless,
sc

I cannot support this poll, it is fatally flawed. I know from my church planning experience that you can't ever offer people a choice between real change and familiar static - they will almost always choose the familiar comfort of what was - even if it leads to death. This poll's option #2 is not the way of Christ - it is the way of man.

I can't work at a CF just like the old one but with less opportunity to spread the Gospel. I had to find time last night to compose some PMs between IMing a suicidal teen - CF should be static enough that I can focus on that - but everyone wants to know what I think about X political thing - and if we can't fix our eyes on Jesus and move forward, we will never ever get to the challenge of ministry.

So, when #2 is chosen as the new CF, and the domesday book is written...I will ensure my name is recorded on the side of those who are found unworthy...because that is where the ministry is.

things we need:

1) Clear, strong Christian-only leadership
2) a lot of room to witness
3) a warning system so there is no anarchy
4) no wiki...the rules are clear and biblical
5) CF stays named CHRISTIAN FORUMS
6) we allow everyone access to the forums, regardless of faith icon

Biblically, what is the "direction CF should go"?

1. Recognize all Christians are already one , attempting to unite Christians is like entering a married couples home and telling them they need new rules to be married!

2. Recognize all Christians are at different levels of growth , most arguments stem from degrees of immaturity not from a lack of unity.

3. Recognize all Christians have a common enemy , which will include attacks on the young in faith not merely young in the flesh.

4. Recognize that all Christians are a witness for Christ , you , me , us , are either a good witness or a bad witness , but a witness none the less.

5. as for mods and rules etc etc , I think they should be to some extent dumbed down , and a basic creed such as the Nicene creed should be in place.

6. No mixing unbelievers with believers EXCEPT for the sole purpose of spreading the Gospel , ie, no unbelievers as mods on a CHRISTIAN forum.

Jesus met with sinners , so did Paul , but with one goal in mind , to win some.

greetings

AMEN nicely said....

I think people forget Erwin was given the site by God and who are we to try to change that.
Actually "WE" have every right to have a say as without us, this site what be pointless.

We should choose how the site should be, as the whole point of the site is to "unite christians as one body"

On the other hand, what would be the point in Erwin posting a thread such as this, for the fun of it? Of course he wants our opinions.

A poll started by ex-Mod drstevej who was well known for his sockpuppets being banned.

Puuuuuuuuleez.

This is not the first time you have advanced this accusation without evidence, professor.

What is a "mainstream Christian"?

By many peoples modern definition they have floating around in their heads 95% or more of the first 3 centuries of Christianity would not have been Christians - irrespective of the Nicene creed not existing.

Yet Erwin states...

Erwin said:
Bear in mind that options 1 and 2 are both valid - there is a place for either forums.

I think that at this moment members are frustrated because CF is halfway between options 1 and 2, so members are confused as we have a vision that belongs to option 2 but a setup that is more like option 1.

He sees both as valid options.

One thing option 2 does *not* exclude is the possibility of creating a different site -- or a less-upsetting extension -- as a wider marketplace beyond ChristianForums.

But then there's beliefnet.

The problem as I see it is that christianforums was already an established ecommunity with expectations and active spiritual growth. Replowing a growing soil was problematic.
