Well it was kinda, you did stuff non-Christians into tiny ghettos and treated them as 2nd class citizens...

kind of like the beginning of the holocaust...
 Just saw this! Sweetie, did you compare CF to the holocaust?

Please don't do that. It's easy to get emotional with discussions like this, but comparing an internet forum to the holocaust where millons died is unconscionable.

Really. Please don't do that.

Now if we keep this as what you call a Chritian forum does that mean we cannot even debate theology without our a flame? We need to be able to debate theology without the fear of getting warnings because of our differences in this area. I like the new CF just as it is.. If we cannot defend our faith and want to hide then how can we be seen? Jesus says we are to be a light unto the world. Who knows how many God has saved out of our debates and our talking. I think that all hostility and personal flaming should be monitered much better. We can discuss and debate without name calling and Hostility..

mmmmm , maybe , maybe not.

just think it's amazing how someone who gets banned and unbanned is said to be the manipulater of the one who is doing the banning and unbanning ..... that is an amazing trick! :D ^_^

I don't think manipulation has anything to do with it , I think Erwin sees some problems with these new "reforms" and wishes to see what others think of the direction CF should go .

Now that seems much more straight forward than looking for conspiracies .

Biblically, what is the "direction CF should go"?

Thought I'd never agree with the official "Worst Catholic on the Internet"^_^ but I'll abstain from this vote also.

Often I think of what's best for "me", and that's rarely a good measure ~ at least in my case. The 777 change got me very angry, and often when I find myself that angry over something it's because there is something wrong with me.

I didn't like Erwin's change, but what I've discovered I like even less is "mob" rule. Some sigs I've seen speak of the dangers of democracy (2 wolves/1 sheep/vote for dinner thing), and leadership by committee is a foundation built on shifting sand.

However it works out I'll be lurking around somewhere:wave:

Jesus never fellowshipped with the downtrodden, leftovers, and non-believers. Jesus never tried to reach out to anyone who wasn't christian, He instead made sure that those who weren't like Him were kept a safe distance away in their own little ghettos; voted option 2.
Just out of curiosity, where did you get your information?

Since option 2 is obviously going to win, I think the "Uniting all Christians as one Body" motto will have to go.

Oh well, whatever the outcome is, I won't be affected since I pretty much just post in the debate section. (I'm assuming that there will still be a debate section open to non-Christians when option 2 wins)

...Then they came for me... Muahahahahahahaha

I think that Erwin only sees two choices and they are either Black or White. The black is the status quo and the white is the way it was before.

Does he not realize that we have other colors? The problem as I see is this. Each confession of faith (Lutheran, Catholic, Orthodox, American Evangelicals etc) are not unified and therefore when an unbeliever comes in to one of these tight-knit communities they are getting inundated with different nuances of the important doctrines of the faith. Baptism is not understood the same in all confessions.

The Lutherans, Catholics and Orthodox understand baptism to be a means of grace to salvation. The American Evangelicals see baptism as an expression of faith already imputed in their life.

How can we ever be unified if our doctrinal positions on the sacraments? The American Evangelicals will call these minor issues, but they are not minor. They are important and major because they reflect the empasis that is put on Christ crucified for our sins.

I think I will vote option 2 because the way it is now is a mess and it needs to be cleaned up.

wow...I'm glad that finally the phrase "let's do what's biblical" came up. This should seem like the best choice, but there's so many people in here now acting selfishly.
I think we need more Omega input on this. :)

G-d bless,

Understood, agreed, this is why it is so very important that Erwin see that the majority of Christians, of all denominations are still going with option 2.......its even a wider voter between the 2 when you weed out the socks.

Hmm? Biblically would be established Christian leadership. Not democratic process.

what happened last time things came down to a vote? Remember when God had a leader chosen for the people and the people said, "no God, we want to vote!" and they voted for the wrong king who ended up terrorizing them. This should be up to God. If you have a reason as to why you think changes should be made, we need to include biblical reasons why!

Erwin,

I think you need a hug, so here ya go.

I am sure these have been very difficult times for you, with everyone jumping down your throat with their different perspectives and points of view. Not to mention to MASSIVE exiodus of many long time members and staff due to the recent changes. I know this had to have some impact on you. Here, have another hug!

Judging by this thread alone, I think at this point Option 2 is winning. But, if the negative responses are still troubling you, then I think you need to remember this:

Jesus Himself was EXTREMELY FIRM on what He meant. He never hesitated to call a phoney a phoney,,, and yet no one ever accuses him of being discriminatory towards someone do they? He preached the Gospel, and stood by it. To put it bluntly, His message was: "This is the Word of God. Take it or leave it" He also instructed his disciples to leave whatever house would not listen to them and shake the dusts off their feet.

The point here is that, bottom line, our opinions really should not matter. This is YOUR website. Hence YOU should take it in any direction that YOU see fit. The real issue here is the name: Christians are unhappy with the changes because they do not reflect what the name stands for. So what you need to do is think long and hard as to what message you want your website to promote. And go from there.

Anybody who is unhappy can just pick up and leave.

In the end, this is YOUR site. Never loose track of that .

My prayers and support are with you in these very difficult times.

AMEN nicely said....

I think people forget Erwin was given the site by God and who are we to try to change that.

Hi members

This poll, started by drstevej, was PMed to me recently. I think that it does make a good point and I wanted it moved out of the Conservative Christians forum to the Announcement forum to gather input from other members as well.

The issue here is whether CF's name should be changed and its vision modified to reflect its current framework.

This site at the moment is at a cross-roads, and can go either way. It can either become:

1. A safe social community site with a heavy and strong Christian influence (with the vision being to offer a safe online community, and a secondary vision being to allow Christians to outreach to non-Christians) - which will allow for a name change;

OR

2. Return to a more restricted Christians-only site with a heavy emphasis on uniting mainstream Christians only with a less emphasis on outreach, in which case we keep the name.

Bear in mind that options 1 and 2 are both valid - there is a place for either forums.

I think that at this moment members are frustrated because CF is halfway between options 1 and 2, so members are confused as we have a vision that belongs to option 2 but a setup that is more like option 1.

Therefore, I think we need to make a decision.

I'm going to leave this up to the community. I've extended the above poll to 3rd of August.

I will listen to the members here, and will defer to the final decision.

Please feel free to discuss this issue in this thread.
This forum needs to be changed to an evangelist forum instead of just a chat forum. We also need to establish not being politically correct as that will destroy what we work so hard for.
