• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

1. A safe social community site with a heavy and strong Christian influence (with the vision being to offer a safe online community, and a secondary vision being to allow Christians to outreach to non-Christians) - which will allow for a name change;

OR

2. Return to a more restricted Christians-only site with a heavy emphasis on uniting mainstream Christians only with a less emphasis on outreach, in which case we keep the name.

Just take a look at that, I mean, I haven't even got a word to describe how off putting option 2 is, and I wonder why? :doh:

Liberty to the captives and good news to the poor has always been frightening. Restrictions and safety have always looked attractive.

It is all so calm and nice until you smell the attar

I don't have much time atm to discuss my reasoning or thoughts on the matter, but i'm inclined to go with #2 provided that all non-christian icons are removed with the exception of seeker, all non-christian forums are shut down with the exception of questions by non-christians and thusly non-christians and non-orthodox christians only be allowed at the site at all for the purposes of asking a question in that forum that they may not rebut. No discussion or debate by non-christians allowed.

We've been given a taste of equality and fellowship, don't expect to shove us back into the ghettos. Either welcome us fully or tell us to get out. It'll end up that way eventually with #2 (as it was doing before) so let's just get all the hurting over with in one batch, ok?

How was it becoming that way before? More and more forums were being moved out of the Christian Only section, with more being discussed.

I agree with the openness of the board the way it is, however, it does mean that there are a necessary increase in FSRs.

then that is some MIRACLE! :D :eek:

Perhaps. We have all have experiences when those in charge resorted to emotional manipulation. There is a difference between manipulation of our views and the ministry of Holy Spirit. There have been alot of manipulation going on in CF like kids to use words to get what they want. :sigh:

Hi members

This poll, started by drstevej, was PMed to me recently. I think that it does make a good point and I wanted it moved out of the Conservative Christians forum to the Announcement forum to gather input from other members as well.

The issue here is whether CF's name should be changed and its vision modified to reflect its current framework.

This site at the moment is at a cross-roads, and can go either way. It can either become:

1. A safe social community site with a heavy and strong Christian influence (with the vision being to offer a safe online community, and a secondary vision being to allow Christians to outreach to non-Christians) - which will allow for a name change;

OR

2. Return to a more restricted Christians-only site with a heavy emphasis on uniting mainstream Christians only with a less emphasis on outreach, in which case we keep the name.

Bear in mind that options 1 and 2 are both valid - there is a place for either forums.

I think that at this moment members are frustrated because CF is halfway between options 1 and 2, so members are confused as we have a vision that belongs to option 2 but a setup that is more like option 1.

Therefore, I think we need to make a decision.

I'm going to leave this up to the community. I've extended the above poll to 3rd of August.

I will listen to the members here, and will defer to the final decision.

Please feel free to discuss this issue in this thread.
Actually, I like things how they are at this midpoint. I see no reason to push toward one extreme or the other.

What CF needs is a combination of the two. Both sides need to come together here and work something out. I believe Christians do need a little area of their own for one-on-one fellowship with each other. Just one small place. But we do need to keep the majority of the board open for all people so we can witness to them all. I do think we need a private staff forums and bring back the warning system. Only Christians should be on staff. These are just my thoughts, but let's work things out.

The two are mutually exclusive.
Wow. Colour me just an ordinary Christian who follows Christ's and the Gospel's model of servant leadershi... oh, no, wait, I meant clueless. Colour me clueless, ignorant and stupid. My clueless crayon is around here somewhere...

Well it was kinda, you did stuff non-Christians into tiny ghettos and treated them as 2nd class citizens...

kind of like the beginning of the holocaust...

Over 2/3 of the board was open to all members. What tiny ghettos are you talking about?

mmmmm , maybe , maybe not.

just think it's amazing how someone who gets banned and unbanned is said to be the manipulater of the one who is doing the banning and unbanning ..... that is an amazing trick! :D ^_^

I don't think manipulation has anything to do with it , I think Erwin sees some problems with these new "reforms" and wishes to see what others think of the direction CF should go .

Now that seems much more straight forward than looking for conspiracies .

The ones that exist only in the minds of non-Christians who wanted to be in leadership here and turn this into a Pantheist site...
