Yup
I actually think everyone who has called for a third option, with a mixture of the two, are in more agreement than we realise. The extreme opinions always garner more attention and derail the discussion, but ignore those, and the voices requestiong a middle ground where no-one is mistreated make up the bulk of the people who have posted.

That's what we should be concentrating on instead of giving credence to the people fighting for one of the extremes where one group will feel rejected.

There's room for everyone to feel safe and happy here.

Love God and love eachother.

What does that have to do with anything? Christ's mission wasn't 3 years of sitting around a campfire with anyone and everyone holding hands and singing Kumbaya. He spent ALOT of time isolated with the Apostles and other believers teaching them, admonishing them, there was time for public ministry, and there was plenty of time for public reproachment of hypocracy.

OK - I'm a Christian and I agree with Beastt's characterisation of how CF operated.
Ok then I am a bigot and happy to be called one for the sake of God ....

God is not a Democracy, He is a Hierarchy

Don't like that I am sorry.... I truly am I have been on the side of bad decisions from staff on both sides of this now.... You know what it happens if you think with this new system it has been totally obliterated think again.....but you know them is the breaks.... So what ?????

There will always be a way for everyone here to abuse something

MY only point is non christian mods. Sorry, but that IS an issue. Not just with me, but a few others.

Perhaps you could all put your heads together and see if you could come up with some examples of unacceptable decisions made by the current non-Christian mods.

I second that motion! I would like to see a list of these terrible decisions myself.

Christ doesn't appear or disappear based on a name.

I want to see it remain Christian Forums...but I don't want the open areas censored by mods who think they are doing God's work.

Flicka, we actually agree. I don't have a problem with non-believer moderators moderating non-believer areas and I would prefer the name to stay the same.

LOL - I was wondering that too. Or perhaps he could list his sockpuppets.
I'll do it for you.

Darth FAbulous, which I use principly to test moderator functions.

Apologia100, which I haven't used in forever.

I was also formerly known, under this account, as Amor VIncit Omnia and Scott_LaFrance.

NOw that that's cleared up....

RULING over CHRISTIAN areas IS.

...I'm almost positive that the only way you could end up with a non-Christian moderating in a Christian area is if the members of that area voted for them. Currently, there are no non-Christians moderating in Christian areas, that I know of. If this is all you're worried about, I think you can relax; it's not likely to happen.

Oh can we please stop it with the "Oooo, I'm being persecuted" and "Boohoo, this place is like the Inquisition" nonsense. Even the Inquisition was not like most people fantasize what the Inquisition was like. Good grief, grow up and learn to make an arguement and take your shots like an adult without the "Whoa is me" bellyaching.

Here's the key; stop persecuting people and people will stop complaining about being persecuted.

But as soon as Erwin comes forward with a system which will stop or limit the persecution, "Christians" are the ones to start "bellyaching".

Are you aware that when you tell other people to "grow up", you're talking down to them and demonstrating that you believe you're more mature than them? Maybe you should look at that for a moment. It might well be part of the problem.

I can understand that. I just popped over to OBOB, and good grief! Every other thread is all about how God is a myth and the Bible is a great big fairy tale, just as he says. Really. Not hyperbolic in the least.
LOL you made me look :D

gah! who are you?

Why can't non Christan mods work the open areas and Christan only mods work the Congregational/Theological areas? BTW...do y'all have problems with a catholic mod in the fundamentalist threads, etc? I'm just wondering how picky people are.

I just cannot understand the confusion unless it is deliberate, you know? It is so clear to me. Atheists are going to apply and be voted in only in the non-congregational/non-theological areas. What is the problem?

As far as denominational, it is the same thing...Catholics COULD vote a fundie in, but likely will not.

Even though I voted for Option 2, which I admit is flawed, I wanted to state this point:

Ravenscape is serving as an excellent mod here at CF.

Her modding skills are exemplary.

If others agree, perhaps it is time to use those PRAISE REPORTS. Do they still exist?

Any chance we can have a Sticky thread over in the Ask Staff area that lists all Mods, their past names (if any) and their active sockpuppets if any?

The deceit inbuilt into the system has always been worrying.
