.. and besides, did you even read those quotes from the bible? They don't need to be verified, as they are philosophical statements.

How so?, Please? "If you can't explain it to a six year old, you don't fully understand it yourself" (Einstein)

It doesn't matter who said them, for the purposes that I used them.

Please, explain those purposes in how you used them?

I'd quite like to know the answer to my question, because I reckon it is truly a "yes" - I reckon you are one who will reject statements that are in the bible simply because they are in the bible.

What was your question? I will not reject a statement that is in the Bible, please, present your question?

God Bless!

Historical records are cross referenced against independent contemporary sources. Especially when individual people and their activities are recorded. We accept things like harvest records etc because there would be no reason to falsify such things outright. Naturally, any 'records' of supernatural events require much more verification - as anyone who elects to adhere to just one religion understands (given they require the same verification of other supernatural claims).

No, I'm afraid I don't understand.

I'm a Christian and lay no burden on Islam or Hinduism or Buddhism that I do not lay on Christianity when it comes to their claims of the supernatural.

Could you give me Philosophy 101, or at least an introduction to Philosophy, in one, or a couple paragraphs please?

God Bless!
Might I suggest these two podcasts:

-------
The History of Philosophy, "without any gaps."

Peter Adamson, Professor of Philosophy at the LMU in Munich and at King's College London, takes listeners through the history of philosophy, "without any gaps." The series looks at the ideas, lives and historical context of the major philosophers as well as the lesser-known figures of the tradition.

http://historyofphilosophy.net

-------
The Partially Examined Life

The Partially Examined Life is a philosophy podcast by some guys who were at one point set on doing philosophy for a living but then thought better of it. Each episode, we pick a text and chat about it with some balance between insight and flippancy. You don’t have to know any philosophy, or even to have read the text we’re talking about to (mostly) follow and (hopefully) enjoy the discussion

Can you give me a definition for the phrase "falsifiable model of enquiry" and compare to a "non-falsifiable model of inquiry"?

Here's a hypothetical for you.

Tiny sized purple dragons live under my car when I'm not driving it. Literally, millions of them.

That simply begs the question, what burden have you placed on Christianity when it comes to their claims of the "supernatural". Do you even have a workable definition of what "supernatural" is (as opposed to what it is not)?

Hi, this was addressed to bhsmte, but I am willing to address you if this is not a mistake. I have too much to do today though, and alreadyb I have spent 4.5 hours this morning on this website, catching up on a week where I have been too swamped to attend here. Just let me know, and also with your first one, can you give me some idea why you think that these statements need to be verified and can't just be accepted even as anonymous statements, as expressing relevant truth. I might be able to get to this later today, so do not feel rushed for this. Thanks!

Hmmm, I still do not understand this. It's an example though, can you please give a definition?

I expect the claims to be evidenced in some way. That is the burden I think they bear.

For a definition of supernatural, just reference a dictionary or encyclopedia.

It's my opinion that using falsifiable models of inquiry are better than those without. Otherwise, how would you know if you're wrong?

Falsifiability is preferable but not always possible. Not all things are subject to repeatable empirical tests.
