....Do you need me to give you examples on that?
Here's an analogous situation that may help:
You can get a "Bachelor of Science" in business administration. But that does NOT mean you are a scientist nor have even studied science.

So, the Ph.D. is not a modern term? Since when we have the word Philosophy and since when we have the term Ph.D.?
Google or Wikipedia are useful tools, e.g. Doctor of Philosophy - History.
You are still saying those people (I am interested to know who were they) made a big mistake when they decided to give the title Ph.D. to scientist.
No, I'm not; do try to follow what I actually say, even if you find it difficult. I'm beginning to suspect they made a big mistake giving one to you...
Is the "natural philosophy" not a part of philosophy? If yes, why can't a Ph.D. be called a philosopher?
See Natural Philosophy. Anyone can call themselves, or be called, casually, 'a philosopher', if they engage in or study philosophical subjects. You are not considered qualified as a philosopher without an academic qualification in philosophy. So, a Ph.D. in subjects other than philosophy does not make you a qualified philosopher, it makes you qualified in whatever subject you studied for the Ph.D.

That someone claiming to have a Ph.D. can have so little understanding - whether authentic or feigned - of what their qualification means, is pretty sad.

With a geology PhD, chances are you'd be no better equipped for philosophy than someone with a bachelors degree in geology. That geology "Ph" doesnt indicate any knowledge in the field of philosophy.

You did not answer my question which quoted your definition of philosophy. Why can't a Ph.D. in geology can not be a philosopher?

If what you said is true, then what does the Ph. mean in my Ph.D. ? If it does not mean the philosophy as the way you described it, why would this academic system want to cheat me with this word?

If he's a 'doctor' of philosophy in geology, can he prescribe me meds?

You are wrong on this one. There are many many more Doctor in Philosophy than Doctor in Medicine. So, you should put the question in reverse. Can a MD do, for example, electric engineering.

My question is right.
If you were cheated out of "philosophy" in PhD, the the geologist was cheated out of "doctor" in his PhD... unless of course, he can prescribe me meds.

Anyone can be a philosopher. But the PhD title doesnt imply any special qualification. Being a scholar in just any field is not sufficient.

If you feel cheated, thats your problem. I can explain the academic system, but I'm not responsible for it.

You seems know philosophy. I like to learn something from you:

What does a philosopher know, but I, a Ph.D., can not understand, say, in one week? (effectively, I like to say, in one hour). If you are a trained philosopher, then please throw your hardest ball to me, and see if I can feed something back to you in just a few Q/A exchanges.

Well you've been struggling for some time now with the concept of a PhD...

That's not something I'd imagine a trained philosopher having so much trouble with.

Then again...I suppose there's always the possibility that you aren't really struggling with the concept and you're just doing your best to keep the topic of off christianity. Fair warning though...there does seem to be an increasing number of posters who don't believe you're playing dumb. That fact doesn't speak well to the quality of your posts.

I am not a philosopher. I know what philosophy is about, like I know what geology, psychology, or various other fields are about. But I'm not an expert at all. What subject is your PhD in?

Answer the question, if you could.
If you don't, I will ignore you next time.

I like to think philosophy must be an important part of it. Since I got the title.
