Many of the live videos from yesterday are now available on YouTube. I will not post these vidoes because I cannot stand to watch the violence and attacks over again. There are videos available by Unicorn Riot, Native American Life and ViralVideos.

Watching live feed on Facebook now. The riot police and the National Guard are barricading to protect the DAPL and the oil company's interest behind it. They are not protecting the people. They attack the people who want to protect their water.

The riot police are forcibly dragging elders and other water protectors out of sweat lodges and tipis while they are praying. That is the same as forcibly dragging Christian elders and other Christians out of their churches while they are praying.

If I sound short tempered or unreasonable in my posts, either in this thread or in other threads, then I sincerely apologize. My emotions are really heightened because I have been watching so much turmoil coming in from Standing Rock since yesterday. I will be more aware of the tone of my posts from this point on. I can see now that I am reacting poorly to other issues.

It is so disrespectful how this is getting marginal mass media coverage.

And, not one wore of this from either candidate either.

Unacceptable.

Hillary gave some feeble attempt yesterday of acknowledgement. She rambled for a bit and then mentioned the safety and rights of the DAPL workers. I will see if I can find her statement and then I will post it here. Native youth are currently at her Brooklyn headquarters in an attempt to get her attention concerning DAPL but she is refusing to speak with them.

@tatteredsoul, I posted this information on the candidates earlier today in this thread.

Absolutely no word on the violence at Standing Rock from either Trump or his campaign. But of course, he would not respond since he invests in the company behind DAPL. Hillary Clinton made a vague attempt to respond but it was pathetically weak.

And now here is the public response from Dr. Jill Stein and her presidential campaign.

The Stein/Baraka campaign is horrified and outraged at the militarized repression of water protectors at the Standing Rock reservation in North Dakota. Police and private security forces have engaged in violent actions against peaceful earth defenders who have come to protect the land and water from the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline.

We condemn the violent repression of the peaceful protests against DAPL as human rights abuses, including the use of attack dogs and pepper spray against peaceful demonstrators, the persecution of journalists, the authorization of weaponized drones, the disruption of prayer ceremonies, and the desecration of sacred burial sites. These are not the actions of public servants sworn to protect and serve the community, but the unconscionable oppression of an occupying army against the original inhabitants of this land.

The water protectors have invoked their rights under the 1851 Treaty of Fort Laramie, which grants the Sioux Nation sovereignty over the territory. A Stein/Baraka administration would honor the Sioux claims under this treaty, as well as the right to free, informed, and prior consent under the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. We call for an immediate halt to the construction of the pipeline and all attempts on the part of the police to remove the water protectors.

American Indian Movement leader Clyde Bellecourt is at this rally in Minneapolis. Hoka Hey! The police have told the organizers that if the protestors do not back away from the building, they will come out and start arresting people.

I scour the morning paper for any kind of coverage. What little I do find doesn't come from the point of view from the people who this affects most.

Being that the issue here is big oil making money at the expense of vulnerable and marginalized peoples, I doubt we would hear much from the two major presidential candidates. Trump being Trump I wouldn't expect anything but promoting more violence against the water protectors.

You'd think we'd have a more founded hope with Hillary, but her lack of concern tell me she's sold out to big oil interests.

I was listening to Bill Clinton give a speech going down the list of all the marginalized groups of people he wants to defend. Women, African Americans, immigrants, LGBTs, etc.. Guess who he left out?
