Were it not for our perverted imaginations and lustful sense of expectation, our bodies would not cause us much trouble. It is our minds and hearts that need "treatment". I too struggled with masturbation when I was single. My opinon is that most men, especially young men would get nuttier than a fruit cake if they don't get sexual release. So which is worse to go fornicate with a prostitute or girlfriend, or to touch? Even if the bible somehow says masturbation is a sin, it would have to be, for most men, a necessity if they are not married. The b ible says not to be righteous over much why shouldest thou die before thy time. It's far better in my opinion for a man to get sexual release so that sex isn't constantly on his brain, than to not touch and be tempted all day long with even the sight of a female 20 miles away. Let's get real here. Men need sexual release or they go nuts. Probably it's the same for women, just that they don't need sexual release as often as men do. On average, I'd guess once a month for females, and twice a week for males would do the trick.

I have been around men who did not touch and I could not stand to be around them. It is said that men and women who do not touch are not good lovers. They are also more likely to have prostate problems and neglect their spouse. Of all the elderly men that had prostate cancer, all of them said to me they believed it was from not having sex.

Thankyou for posting all those scriptures, Its hard to believe any real Christian reading those passages could not see plainly that masturbation is a sexually immoral act. since it is void of any self control and is in accompaniment with sexual fantasy

Of course then theres always that worldly Christian that wants to find a loophole to sin and declares they can do the act without any sexual thoughts..........I would imagine the thoughts proceeded the act, and were simply halted during masturbation then picked up again after the deed

what bible version do you have that inserted the words "by violating his wife" I haven't seen those words added in any translation I have

So looking at a woman with lust is just as bad as masturbation? Well since all men are drawn away by their lusts, then all men should touch to keep from being drawn away by their lusts even more. Masturbation puts a hold on lustful imaginations.

James 1:14-15 but each man is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. Then the lust, when it hath conceived, beareth sin: and the sin, when it is fullgrown, bringeth forth death.

Masturbation chases the lust away so that it doesn't linger around till it's conceived.

Were it not for our perverted imaginations and lustful sense of expectation, our bodies would not cause us much trouble. It is our minds and hearts that need "treatment". It is like rev-ing an engine near red-line at every traffic signal, and all the time it is running, and then complaining about the eventual engine failure. Sure the thing can rev, but not all the time. It was not made for that.

I agree that there are things that we can do to lessen the times when we are confronted with lustful temptations, like keeping busy, but for a man there is nothing he can do to stop it competely, Us guys just have too much testostrone. It is testostrone that is the cause of sexual desire in both men and women. Since men have gobs more testostrone, they have gobs more sexual pressure.

From Scripture, the line not to be crossed is the line of illicit imagination. And what a line! Minus the sinful fantasies, which are the fuel for most masturbation, all the fun and zest would be taken out of it. Thus, it would no longer be a topic of interest to you or anybody, any more than the act of going to the bathroom.

Sex was not created for this, you can be sure.

No impurity of thought? Everyone has impure thoughts sometimes. A person gets real mad at someone and thinks "I'd like to have a hammer to bash his head in with." Course most of us don't go with that thought, but all men and women at times have impure thoughts. We christians fight it, and impure sexual thoughts, for a man, can only be fought with masturbation. For a man, when he has impure sexual thoughts, he either goes with it and masturbates, or trys and resists the thoughts, which results in him having those thoughts on and on and on and on and on and on and on till he either masturbates, or turns into something wierd like a flasher or a pedophile, or a rapist etc.

Clearly you don't know what it's like to be a man.

For you remember what we taught you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin.Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor— not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways.

yea, and masturbation and wives are how men should take care of their lustful passions. The wrong thing to do is to let lustful passions linger.

Never harm or cheat a Christian brother in this matter by violating his wife, for the Lord avenges all such sins, as we have solemnly warned you before.God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives.Therefore, anyone who refuses to live by these rules is not disobeying human teaching but is rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you. Can you, in all honesty, touch without sinning against the clear commands of Christ? Let us be honest and admit that it is not so easy to do if we are committed to avoid mental sexual sin.

A man cannot in all honesty not touch or have sex because he will go nuts if he doesn't do one or the other.

So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the same attitude he had, and be ready to suffer, too. For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin.You won’t spend the rest of your lives chasing your own desires, but you will be anxious to do the will of God. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. (Romans 6:13)

Would Jesus have engaged in masturbation? The Son of God? Seems like a pretty low thing for Him to do.

But to answer your question, I don't know. I suspect that some christian single men are able to completely avoid masturbation. But for the vast majority it boils down to a question as to which is worse, masturbation or continual lustful sexual passions. Which is worse going nuts from represed sexual passions, or masturbation? Those are the choices most christian single men face. I say it's much better to touch than to have continual sexual passionate thougthts to the point that one gets nuttier than a fruit cake. If a guy doesn't take care of his sexual passionate thoughts, he won't be able to talk to a woman without having his eys drop down to the womans chest level. He won't be able to thing about what the woman is talking about without thinking about something sexual about the woman. Sexual passionate thoughts don't go away cause a person wants them too. they linger unless they are taken care of. The longer a guy goes without takeing care of this business, the more frequent and potent will be the return of those sexual passionate thoughts.

Besides even if a man does completely avoid masturbation or any sexual activity, he will have passionate sexual thoughts in his dreams. so either way it's gonna happen. the body needs release and it will find release with or without our cooperation.
