Dear ones,
Let us consider what we have heard:
So
I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. -
Romans 7:21
For I delight in
the law of God, in my inner being, -
Romans 7:22
but I see in my members another law waging war against
the law of my mind and making me captive to
the law of sin that dwells in my members. -
Romans 7:23
When apostle Paul found the law —as written in Roman 7:21– that he wanted to do right — that law is the law of God that he spoke of in Roman 7:22.
When apostle Paul have the law of God on his mind, that is, the law of his mind that he talked about in Roman 7:23
When apostle have the law of God on his mind, we can consider what we heard in Hebrews 4:12, that said:
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword,
piercing to the division of soul (mind ) and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and
discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. -Hebrews 4:12
For apostle Paul said in Roman 7:24
but
I see in my members ANOTHER LAW waging war against the law of my mind and
making me captive TO LAW OF SIN that dwells in my members. -Romans 7:23
So we can consider that apostle Paul see or perceived in members of his body ANOTHER LAW waging against the law of God that is on his mind ! That another law is THE LAW OF SIN !
That is why apostle Paul have said this in Roman 7:25
Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then,
I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve THE LAW OF SIN. -Romans 7:25
Therefore, we consider that spiritual warfare between THE LAW OF GOD and THE LAW OF SIN happen in the MIND.
Likewise, we have heard this :
For those who live according to the flesh
set their MINDS on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit
set their MINDS on the things of the Spirit. -Romans 8:5
So now, let us consider what our Lord have said :
"
Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them
but to fulfill them. -Matthew 5:17
So our Lord told us NOT TO THINK that He has come to abolish the law of God, that He spoke through Moses but He has come to fulfill them.
Let us also consider this that we have heard:
They
serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things. For when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, "See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain." -Hebrews 8:5
But
as it is, Christ has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises. -Hebrews 8:6
For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion to look for a second. -Hebrews 8:7
In speaking of a new covenant, He makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away. -Hebrews 8:13
So Christ makes the first covenant obsolete.
but Christ does not make the law of God obsolete.
That is why we heard this :
For
the law of the Spirit of life has set you FREE in Christ Jesus
from the law of sin and death. -Romans 8:2
By sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 4
in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but
according to the Spirit.-Romans 8:3-4
So we can consider that the righteous law is the law of God, that is, the law of Spirit of life.
Likewise, we heard:
We know that our old self was crucified with Him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. -Romans 6:6
For one who has died has been set free from sin. -Romans 6:7
So when we were buried with Christ through baptism into death — WE DIED TO SIN OR THE LAW OF SIN !
So what we should consider:
So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. -Romans 6:11
SO WE MUST CONSIDER OURSELVES DEAD TO THE LAW OF SIN AND ALIVE TO GOD IN CHRIST JESUS.
AMEN
