When the perspective is evolution of "consciousness", which is what I think it's all about, Human Beings are pretty strong in that trajectory.Evolutionists are fond of pointing out the weaknesses of our 'design' as compared to other species. The irony is that humans have never taken full advantage of the capabilities that we have, regardless of our supposedly poor design. Also ironic is that our 'evolutionary' design hasn't fared any better. In fact one can't tell the difference.

Despite our eye being “wondrous things” would you oppose bit of gene therapy to say raise their efficiency by 20% if the procedure was cheap, foolproof and without any side effects ?

Not in a quarters. There's a social undercurrent of a vibrant spiritual awakening going on, though mostly outside of main stream religious institutions. These are folks who are looking towards the Wisdom traditions for spiritual insight.I think our 'cluelessness' is actually increasing.

Teeth maybe could use some improvement... no fun having rotten crockery in your mouth, which without modern dentistry most of us would have for the last 50% of our lives.
So things are not made perfect.
