  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

lol. That's hilariously wrong, generally.
Good grief. Where do you people get your "info?" Misinformation.com?

Personal experience. I am very healthy but only consume about four servings of fruits and vegetables combined daily.

With breakfast - 1/2 banana
With Lunch- a few pieces of fruit (melon, orange, grapes, peach)
With supper - 1 serving steamed broccoli
Evening snack - a small apple
  1. The latest dietary guidelines call for five to thirteen servings of fruits and vegetables a day (2½ to 6½ cups per day), depending on one’s caloric intake.
How Many Servings of Fruits and Vegetables Are In Juice?

My high energy needs are met easily without stuffing myself with thirteen servings of fruits and vegetables. I need most of the room for protein foods, bread, milk.

So I went to google scholar because I was curious about the vegan/vegetarian/omnivore thing. What I found wasn't particularly surprising.

With the exception of very young children there doesn't seem to be any health differences IF all three are educated about their food choices and nutrient intake. There's some differences in bone density and muscle mass but it's fairly minor. There's also a SLIGHT increase in colon cancer for excessive amounts of red meat, but not enough to be a major concern.

If a diet works for you then good! Go for it! If it doesn't then whatever. So long as you're not exclusively eating endangered animals or some odd high maintenance plant no one else should care.

A vegan diet CANNOT be a healthy diet as it requires vitamin B12 supplements. A diet that requires vitamin supplements for health is by definition NOT a healthy diet.

My grown daughter plays with the vegan diet but admits that she will get so run down that she has to abandon it for a time and eat some meat. She especially likes my stewed venison. :yum:

Right, I remember in Genesis where God gave Adam a bow and arrow, instructing him to kill and eat every living creature in the garden. Eve waited back at base camp keeping the frying pan hot - or am I remembering it wrong?

You are remembering it wrong. God didn't put meat on the menu until later.

Why would human health be dependent on something us humans can't even digest? (cellulose)
Our gut needs the fiber from cellulose to regulate digestion-uptake. Without it you are at much greater risk of various metabolic diseases.

Also, honestly I see the resistance to learn-to-like things that are good for you as kind of childish.

Veg aversion is the classic case.

And yet nutritionists caution not to force foods on kids that they don't like. That would certainly include some vegetables (rutabaga and brussel sprouts come to mind immediately).:sput:

I get that.

But I said the aversion is childish. Childish things are cute in children. Adults really should move on.

People move on naturally. I hated green olives as a kid. Now I like them (I still won't eat rutabaga).
