I am going to borrow the saying from those who live in Missouri.
Show me WITHOUT going to Leviticus.
Show me where it is right and clearly expressed.
Again, Follow the rest of the 613 laws if you are so following the word so closely.

It is amazing how B Max & Tas can't answer this question. They just gloss over it. :sigh:
If one wants to live by the law - the Old Covenant - then one must keep all of it (James2:10). Transgressing any part of the law means we are guilty of transgressing all of it. According to Levitical law, we may not eat the meat of rabbits or pigs (Leviticus 11:6-7), nor lobsters, crabs, prawns, oysters or clams (Leviticus 11:10-12). Hybrid breeding of livestock and mixing linen and wool in fabrics is prohibited (Leviticus 19:19). Shaving the sides of your head (being clean shaven) or disfiguring the edges of your beard (trimming) are also forbidden (Leviticus 19:27). So - if you’ve ever eaten a pork sandwich, dined on Maine lobster, trimmed your beard or worn a wool blend suit - or have gotten a tattoo - you’re guilty under the law!

In Paul’s day there was controversy over whether a believer would be defiled by eating meat that had been sacrificed to idols. Paul addressed this at length. In his understanding, the eating of that meat was neither good nor bad of itself. It was the attitude of the heart that was important. Heart motive either cleansed the meat or condemned the eater.

OY! I'm sorry that I did not pounce upon the request someone made asking me to prove the case against tattoos without going to Leviticus. I **DO** have a life off of CF you know :p.

NOW - talk about taking something out of context! The passage in James you referred to has a totally different meaning IN CONTEXT than that which you are attempting to impart to it. James is NOT in any way implying or stating that we should not keep the law - rather the passage is about problems of esteeming one person over another. THEREFORE - James is agreeing that a Christian with a tattoo is no less in the eyes of God than a Christian without one - but that breaking the law is breaking the law and what the law says is wrong is not made right by our desires for it to be right.

Literal Translation said:
Jam 2:1 My brothers, do not with partiality have the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory.
Jam 2:2 For if a gold-fingered man in splendid clothing comes into your synagogue, and a poor one in shabby clothing also comes in;
Jam 2:3 and you look on the one wearing the splendid clothing, and say to him, You sit here comfortably; and to the poor one you say, You stand there, or, Sit here under my footstool;
Jam 2:4 did you not also make a difference among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?
Jam 2:5 Hear, my beloved brothers, did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to the ones loving Him?
Jam 2:6 But you dishonored the poor one. Do not the rich ones oppress you, and they drag you to judgment seats?
Jam 2:7 Do they not blaspheme the good Name called on you?
Jam 2:8 If you truly fulfill the royal Law according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well. Lev. 19:18
Jam 2:9 But if you have partiality you work sin, being reproved by the Law as transgressors.
Jam 2:10 For whoever shall keep all the Law, but stumbles in one, he has become guilty of all.
Jam 2:11 For He who said, "You shall not commit adultery," also said, "You shall not murder." (Ex. 20:14, 13; Deut. 5:18, 17) But if you do not commit adultery, but commit murder, you have become a transgressor of the Law.
Jam 2:12 So speak and so do as being about to be judged through a Law of freedom.

As for the dietary law - that is covered the epistles :). Is there anything in the epistles which specifically contradicts the prohibition on Tattoos?

I wonder when I have ever once said that anyone of us is NOT guilty? My being guilty does not make tattoos right! lol I freely admit that I am guilty. I am guilty of having sinned but I am forgiven. :) But then, I am NOT trying to defend any of the things I do wrong. ;)

[chuckling] perhaps some take Ephesians 6:11-12 too literally...

Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms

Everything is 'in our opinion', the Bible authors were expressing their opinion of what they thought were God's wishes!
incorrect. The bible is the inspired word of God. Jesus makes reference to it in every "iota" and "every least particle". He infers that not only are the thoughts inspired, but every written character. "For prophecy was not borne at any time by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke being borne along by the Holy Spirit."

the price to pay for having a tatoo. It may affect your testimony (may). It is difficult to remove. If your motive to get it was sinful (IE: out of rebellion to authority, etc.) then it would be a sin to get it.

Many things - MAY affect your testimony. The people you hang out with, the food you eat, the clothes you wear - all of these things could possible affect your testimony - but that is dependant on the people you are wittnessing to at the time.

The HEART is what matters - not the action. Plain & simple.
Getting a tat to rebel? Don't do it.
Getting a tat.......well there are many reasons not to.
There are many reason to get one. It's a matter of the heart. Getting a tattoo is not a sin.

I can't say its a sin or not...But I know as We christians...We are the Body of Christ the Church. Our body is the temple. So, how do you feel if God temple got all the markings on it? When Jesus Christ brought us with a ultrimate price, we belong to him completely. It mean body, mind, and soul belong to him. But we all have freewill to choose. The decision we make will affect our outcome.

If the schoolmaster said that 1+2=3 and "1" still means the same and "2" still means the same then 1+2 still =3 (even if we have left school)

But not necessarily if what the schoolmaster said, was during the Old Covenant, and it's the New Covenant now.
