And living by ALL the Laws is what the point is here.
Picking and choosing is wrong as written in the Bible.
Adding to or taking away is sin.
Plain and simple.
I don't disagree. :) Which is why I have stated time and again - if God calls a thing wrong, any attempt to say that that thing is acceptable is not only wrong, but foolish.

 where does it say that?

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Br. Max again.

Br. Max, I have tattoos, but I have seen your point through this thread. Even though I love my tats, I still, reluctantly because I don't want to, see your point ;) Sadly, I have agreed with you way to much over at the Safehouse :p so now I can't rep you ;). You know I luv ya though!

If they can't find a 'sin' in the Bible some fundies will decide a thing is a sin away, because they think they can work out what God thinks, which of course they can't, none of us can!
Sure we can. lol What he thinks is expressed in the Scriptures. What is wrong in Gods eyes is called wrong in the scriptures and if Scripture calls something wrong - rest assured that that is what God feal on the topic.

I know lots of people with tatoos - are any of you going to hell for it? NO! But that does not make them right. I know it's hard to admit that something you enjoy is wrong - I spent too many years trying to justify myself in my errors to not understand. I know what I have said here and in other threads is not the popular thing to hear - I know that I amger a great many people by my stands - but I'm only standing for what I know to be right and clearly expressed in the scriptures. :sigh:

:)Thanks for the reps. :)

I have a hard time believing it's wrong. I don't have any personally...but for many it's a form of artwork and often carries deep personal meaning for them...even expression of their faith. How is that wrong? I can see if someone was obessed with them and tattooed their entire body..but a tattoo here and then expressing ones beliefs can't possibly be wrong...they are decorating God's temple with gifts of praise.

I am going to borrow the saying from those who live in Missouri.
Show me WITHOUT going to Leviticus.
Show me where it is right and clearly expressed.
Again, Follow the rest of the 613 laws if you are so following the word so closely.

Tatoos are as much art as grafitti or pronography.

HOW your express your beliefs IS important. Would it be right for me to express my belief in the love of God through ORGIES??

Only if you believe that tattoos are as bad as sexual immorality.
Actually tattos are art. I designed one of my own before I had it done.

ETA:

The bible does speak against sexual immorality in the form of fornication, adultery, multiple wives, and also speaks against many other things like looking at a woman lustfully, eating pork, and a whole list of things I could put here.
Maybe if someone were speaking out so strongly against THAT as well, The tats issue might not be so picked on here.

Design makes it art? Even a porno has a script! lol No one is here trying to defend sexual immorality as right and accpetable before God. Were they - I would make the same points there. I'd point you to a thread of mine where I did make just that case - but the thought police deleted those posts.

When addressing the question "Are tattoos wrong?" many would say that you cannot use Leviticus 19:28 as a reason to reply "Yes" but I would ask "Why not"
If you were a father of a teenager you might make certain rules (like the LAW) that would ensue the wellbeing of your child. Some " rules" like "you should not drink and drive" and "be nice to one another" are meant to be for a lifetime. Other rules like "you should be home by 11 PM" are only there for a season.
After the child gets married it would be just as wrong for the father to insist that the child still gets home at 11 as it would for the child to insult their father by refusing to accept his advice concerning drinking and driving.
This is equivalent to the Law being replaced by grace - it is up to the child to continue to be obedient by their own desire to do so.
I hope this puts an end to the continual disrespect shown to our heavenly Father.
