I think that is where the problem lies.
We are here, discussing doctrines. Conventions. Dogma.

It would be better if we went back to the Basics: "Love God above everything and Your neighbour like yourself".
I guess Jesus Never Wanted us to do anything more than try to follow and understand this rule.

You make the mistake of thinking that the Nicean Creed was the first creed ever written.

There are several creeds that were written well before teh Council of Nicea in 325 A.D, all of which are inline whith what the nicean Creed says.

The Nicean Creed is a statement of faith that had been believed for 3 centuries before it was finally written down.

There is only ONE God - but mormonism teaches there are many gods (Mormon Doctrine, p. 163) where there is only one God (Isaiah 43:11; 44:6,8; 45:5)

You know... you need to type out your argument more clearly.

or.... are you saying that there were no revelations after the Bible?

for either one... where do you find support for this standpoint? When did Jesus ever say that there would be no more revelation from him? and when was the Bible even compiled?

My response was after the Bible. What don't you understand about that? The Bible ends with Revelations. It is the mainstream Bible (Canonized and w/o Apocrypha). I mentioned a few of the authors o books and people of the NT thinking that you would catch on. I didn't think that I had to list the whole collection.

Isn't the revelations of Fatima a doctrine of faith and accepted by the catholic church therefore an inspiration of prophecy from Mary mother of God which was first instigated between May to October 1917 to three young shepherds?


If revelation can come to them after the bible then why not anyone else, or is it just because the church says what is inspiration or not?

This is part of the problem with groups calling themselves Christian. I am speaking in general terms here. If they get revelation, it is not something privy just to them. The Holy Spirit is alive in the entire church and would lead all of us to that same piece of information, wouldn't you think? Personal revelation would be a little different, but all revelations have to be tested against known revelation before they can even be considered at all. And if it is true revelation, it will bring with it glory to Christ and bless the whole Church body in some way.

The "underwear thing"-they are supposed to be physical reminders of our covenants with our Heavenly Father. Baptism of the dead? We believe that every person must be baptized, and by one holding proper authority. Since it must be done here on this earth, as a physical ordinance, we stand in proxy for someone who has already passed on, and it is considered that they have been baptized-provided that they want to accept it of course. As for Hitler, don't know much about that. I don't know how much is rumor, and how much isn't. And, yes, I do believe that President Hinckley is a living prophet of the Lord, and able to recieve revelation for the entire Church, as is his calling. (Thank you for using he proper title and name. It means a lot. )

A few questions...Don't people need to decide for themselves whether or not they want to be baptized while they are alive?

Also, how does President Hinkley fit the characteristics of a prophet as seen in the Bible?

of course it matters. Christians in general have the idea that a christian is defined on wether or not he/she accepts the ideas of the nicean creed. We know from history, that such is not the case. That, like the nicean creed is a man inspired idea. Wethere or not a man/woman agrees with the nicean creed simply does not matter.

We know that when the followers of christ were first called christians, there was no nicean creed! So, what was the word based on? Simply, wether or not they followed the Saviour.

You're correct in now suggesting that it is dependent on if you actually follow Jesus and his commandments.

Please... list the commandments... and i'll tell you wether or not I follow them. Then... together we can conclude on wether or not I am a Christian.

The plates were written in a 'reformed' Egyptian... which is something more of a mixture of hebrew and egyptian. Moroni said, in Mormon 9:32-34

"And now, behold, we have written this record according to our knowledge, in the characters which are called among us the reformed Egyptian, being handed down and altered by us, according to our manner of speech. And if our plates had been sufficiently large we should have written in Hebrew; but the Hebrew hath been altered by us also; and if we could have written in Hebrew, behold, ye would have had no imperfection in our record."

But also.. like I said above, list the commandments of Jesus and I'll tell you wether I follow them or not (since this is the definition of a 'christian').

We believe that the Nephites lived (most probably) in Mexico/central America and South America. Still today, very little is really known about those regions. New discoveries are being made all the time... with plenty 'evidences' being found in support of the book of mormon 'claim'.

I don't know of any specific language findings of yet.. but i can give you a site address which shows the many new evidences that are being found that suggest more and more that the book of mormon was a record of a real people.
