It is useful to know that ones religion is based on real events since other religions make very few such claims that their God represented themself in human form.

Actually, several do...

Just off the top of my head, ancient Greeks believed their gods would often come to Earth in human form to interact with people (often sexually)...so that's certainly not unique to christianity.

You didn't look very hard, did you? Probably the most relevant would be the story of Apollonius of Tyana, who was claimed to be the incarnation of a minor Greek god named Proteus.

Supposedly his mother had a dream where Proteus came to her and told her she would give birth to himself...Proteus.
