Not even close. Did you miss the part where I said what she did was wrong?
Actually, to be honest, I don't even think her actions, alone, were "wrong".
She's tripled-vaccinated, she's a young healthy 32 year old person with no comorbidities that I'm aware of, and she opted to take a vacation in a state where you can do a lot of stuff outdoors due to the nicer weather.
Given that this virus is going to be with us for a while, she made the type of risk-assessment, countervailing-interests analysis we've all made, and will have to make for quite a while.
I went to Florida for Halloween weekend a few months back, went to a few places, had some drinks and some food. I was a vaccinated 38 year old with no underlying conditions, so it was a risk I was willing to take (the irony being, I didn't catch it down in Florida, I got it a month and half later after being back in Ohio...but, in fairness, that was pre-omicron when I went to FL, and when I went down there, their numbers were actually lower than ours at that point in time)
The "wrongness" comes into play when a person is willing to give themselves the latitude to make those kinds of risk assessment choices for themselves, but then advocate foisting an unsustainable code on everyone else.
There are other places with nice weather she could've gone. So-Cal has a lot of the same climate advantages as Florida, same vibrant culture (probably even more of the type of environment she would like since it's a more liberal vibe there), and she has the income that it wouldn't have been a problem to fly to Cali.
I suspect the reason she specifically picked Florida over Cali is because, as I noted before, she's a young healthy vaccinated person, and she wanted her vacation to be fun and relaxing, wanted to be able to mingle with people, and not have to worry about abiding by a bunch of restrictions on vacation when her net risk is extremely low.
I actually hope it gives her some perspective on the matter, and makes her reflect on the types of policies she's been advocating for, for vaccinated 30 year olds in her home city.
