I have been predominantly content with my single status. Long before I recommitted my life to the Lord, I enjoyed my solitude and never experienced a strong urge to date (the concept bored me senseless) . Consequently, I've never in actuality been in a relationship which, along with my age, may contribute to the increasing desire I currently possess for a mate.
Nevertheless, my conviction that I am not designed to recreationally date has only intensified since returning to the Lord. Nowhere in the Bible is it utilized as the method for finding a suitable partner. Furthermore, I believe that not engaging in recreational dating saves one a great deal of heartache and grief, most especially if you are as I am--readily inclined to care and become attached. I certainly do not wish to become emotionally bound to a man who is not meant for me. Hence I shall wait upon my King to spiritually prepare both my future mate's heart and mine so that when we come together, we will offer one another the best in Christ Jesus.
I was feeling especially lonely today following an incident with a gentleman that left me feeling rejected. As that door closed, I comforted myself with the following verses:
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Psalm 23
The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD
Forever.
If I had Jesus alone and nothing more, I would still have all I need and deserve, and yet He so richly blesses and spoils us all! He alone deserves honor, praise and glory, for His goodness is immeasurable and overwhelming!
