I'm not 100% certain, but here's what I do know--
People like to have something to worship.
Examples -- the golden calf (Ex 32), Nehushtan (the bronze serpent, Numbers 21:8; 2 Kings 18:4)
We're not to have any graven images (see Ex 20).
There are some things that have been lost (to man's view) that I think were intentionally removed from the picture to strip away the alternatives to worshipping the Lord God.

I don't think this is the reason. The Israelites had Joseph's bones. They knew the location of Elisha's bones. They knew the location of David's tomb. Any one of these would have been equally likely to be worshipped, but God did not take them away.

The devil is a sicko.

Be that at it may, I don't think it is relevent. God sent the Archangel Michael to collect Moses's body. I don't think either of them would be desctribes as sickos.

I know God was angry at Moses near the end of his life and he was not allowed to enter the promised land.

God had told him to speak to the rock and water would flow. But he got angry for some reason and struck the rock twice.

So then, he ended up misrepresenting Christ by not obeying as God had said because the priest speaks to the bread and wine, and it becomes Christ, the living water. So then, mayhaps the Devil thought Moses should be his for his disobedience, but God thought otherwise. Moses in the OT was the greatest foreshadowing of Christ to come.

Moses bones were not in the same catagory as Elisha or Joseph. In orthodox jewish tradition there is quite a large distinction here based on the verse
" And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face."
deuteronomy 34 :10

also observe verse 6 of the same chapter where it states "no man knows of his sepulchre unto this day."

There is quite a bit written in jewish commentaries regarding this and I am sure the writer of Jude was aware of that context.

Also check out 2 Kings 13:21-Not just healing but being raised from the dead. If this was the result of someone touching the bones of Elisha imagine how much more the bones of Moses carryed the very annointing of God.

No prob.

It is only mentioned in Jude. The OT does not record it.

The problem with this statement is that it assumes Moses' body had something to do with his eternal status. I doubt this is what you meant but I wanted to clarify this point a little.

I really don't know the answer to this. There are many things in Scripture that I do understand and there are some that I don't completely understand. This being the latter.

I take it on faith based on what I know about God's character.

Still, this is an interesting discussion.
