Hello folks. Are there any Korean Christians here on the forum? One of my friends is half-Korean, and he is a Christian, but is super busy with life. His name is Ezra. :) What is it like to be Korean, and Christian in 2024? For reference, I am adopted from Europe, and am Romani.

Where I live they're quite snobby and have no respect of the elderly and may even be racist against people of darker skin colors. They have among the highest suicide rates in the world.

I'm not Korean but I watch Korean films, not to say I'm a Korean film fanatic because I watch movies from all over the world of equal fondness.

I just have to say the quality and "soul" of Korean films started declining since the year 2010 especially with their younger actors. Their later films showing increasing symptoms of insecurity and self-image issues which ties in to their high suicide rates.

I'm rather surprised by the large numbers high ratings of the film reviews at IMDB but on closer inspection, I found many of the high score reviews are most probably fake. If Koreans are faking their blockbuster film reviews, It just shows that things are spinning out of control there.

Korea is very Christian place in relative terms in the world - one of the highest 'producers' of missionaries per capita after the USA.

What @timewerx says is true - also a very stressfull place where shame/loss-of-face means everything.

@AlexB23: are you from Roma descent? or just general Romanian? I've visited that country extensively - a great beautiful place and developing fast.

I am of Roma descent, adopted from Bulgaria. It it good that South Korea is Christian, but sad how shame is common there from what Timewerx is saying.

That sounds bad. I liked Minari, it was a good Korean movie. South Korea needs Christ.

Thank you. I'll have a look.

I usually enjoy their comedy or action-comedy films. Their rom-coms are also nice before 2010.

South Koreans seem obsessed with having fair and smooth skin and generally with cosmetic surgery. It's gotten a lot worse now. For those who cannot afford cosmetic surgery, it's going to be a real problem.

And because the "trending looks" is changing faster than it did before, it means having multiple cosmetic surgeries within their lifetimes for those deluded enough to keep following the trend. What a way to thrash your body and waste tons of money. To me it's a scam perpetrated by entertainment and fashion industry and ofc, cosmetics, and medical industry.

It may not be a Good thing that South Korea is Christian because they're also quite materialistic. They're definitely descending down the path of hypocrisy and according to the Bible, it's worse to be a hypocrite than a non-believer.

Romani are like nomads and all over the world. AI recognition analyzed my ethnicity with similar ethnic composition as Romani with a mix of Sub-Saharan African, and Native American (west coast Inuit and Andean). Yet our known family tree have only ever been born in South East Asia. It doesn't make sense though some from the mother's side did looked Romani and sister of Grandma who also looked Romani practiced divination and other strong evidence of occult practice by our ancestors. Divination is synonymous with the Romani.

Romani are probably more known as "Gypsies" or even fortune tellers. Wiki tells their origins from India.

Koreans are good looking, but yeah, surgeries are messed up, and make people look less good looking.

Wow, these guys are good looking. :) So glad that Jesus helped me not crush on guys as much, as a Christian bi guy. A year ago, I would have crushed on these guys a lot more.

These verses have helped me.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 (NIV): "It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathens, who do not know God."

2 Timothy 2:22 (NIV): "Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart."

Look up K-pop deaths/suicides. Very sad.
I have heard of that. Some of the K-pop stars starve themselves, which is why I do not support the music industry, as the record companies treat their bands like crap.
