  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't think it does. That's what my Catholic friends have told me when I invited them to Liturgy. They just went saturday night like you suggested.

Indeed it doesn't.

Canon 1248 §1. A person who attends a Mass celebrated anywhere according to a Catholic rite, either on the feast day itself or in the evening of the preceding day, satisfies the obligation of participating in Mass. (my translation; emphasis mine)

From the Directory for the Application of Principles and Norms on Ecumenism:

115. Since the celebration of the Eucharist on the Lord's Day is the foundation and centre of the whole liturgical year, Catholics—but those of Eastern Churches according to their own Law—are obliged to attend Mass on that day and on days of precept. It is not advisable therefore to organize ecumenical services on Sundays, and it must be remembered that even when Catholics participate in ecumenical services or in services of other Churches and ecclesial Communities, the obligation of participating at Mass on these days remains. (emphasis mine)

So attend Saturday evening Mass if you wish to fulfill your Sunday obligation. ;)
