Any artists in the house?

Hello, I am Eric from Latham in Central Illinois. I am enrolled in a correspodence course which teaches the fundamentals of art which I am somewhat familiar with. I am currently working on a personal project that studies the course of expression throughout humanity's history when it comes to our blessed friends know as the holy angels of Our Lord Jesus Christ. I am using various resources but would aappreciate any advice that a new friend might lend.Thank you for this site and may God bless all who might read these words. . . I love to draw! I can't say I'm that great, but I enjoy it. In fact, today feels like a good drawing day, I think...Here's some of my stuff.

A few sketches:

Audrey Hepburn
Mandy Rides (ignore the wonky arm - I'm fixing it! Heh heh)
Sneaky Riley
Ivy
Angel

And some CG's:

Eithne & Nen (for a graphic novel I'm attempting to start)
Mandy and Adair
Mera
Persephone
Wedding Yuna
Thais Abalone, the Shellguy (something different)

I'm kind of cartoony with the way I draw. I love realism and wish I could just sit down and effortlessly churn out a realistic looking portrait like so many of ya'll seem to be able to! But I think in the end, I'm just cartoony.

I wish I had a scanner.......:( I'm very much into art...my favorite medium for the moment is watercolor.....just little studies I'm doing mostly, experimenting with different colors and shades mostly, so they aren't incredibly fantastic. I'd have to say really that my talent lies in portraits, or so I'm told. I've won a few grand champion ribbons in the fair back in the day... *Gets all nostalgic* ;) Ahh, those were the days....when a 16 year old could compete against a 13 year old.....:D :p

Hello,
There are some other threads on the 'Creative Arts and Ministry Forum' with artists at CF. I'm trying to locate all the interested artists on CF. If you are interested I am keeping a database of the visual artists on my 'buddy list' (seemed like a good way to keep the artists together!) Anyway, please continue working, for the Lord is calling His artists and wants to use them in this season we are in! I have already seen Him using the visual arts in the most amazing ways! Blessings to each of you! If you are interested in being kept up on the Christians in the Visual Arts, be sure to let me know, I'll be glad to help anyway I can.

Thank you very much.

Just wish I could go back to doing things that were that small. It's easy copying a piece of art, but now I've been doing my own charcoal surreal art on 4foot by 2 1/2 foot paper and that is quite the ordeal. hehe

Someone figured if I did that eye on 4 foot paper, I could just scare everyone to death.. probably would.

I want to tell all you artists about something that is happening at not only my church, but churches everywhere. Painting and drawing are now being added into praise and worship as a form of worship. Basically how it's used is that during the praise and worship, while singing, etc., the artists will ask the Lord what he wants them to draw/convey. The person(s) start drawing what they feel the Lord is putting on their heart. One of the cool thing that happens is usually, the artists, unaware of what the others are doing, usually paints either the same thing as the other person without knowing it, or they end up painting pieces of the same storyline/parable/scripture, etc. It is amazing to see how what is being painted, also ends up being sung or preached without everyone being "on the same page" or rehearsed ahead of time. Most of it is done spontanious.

Oh! Oh! My turn! hehe. I'm not as good as some already here *coughHollycough* but I like what I've done so far.
Your work looks good. Just don't be afraid of using shadowing. Alot of people are afraid of getting too dark with their shading, but that's what gives it depth. Keep up the good work. :)
