• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Does anyone ever have anxiety about posting in a forum? There are a lot of times I see a thread and would like to post a reply but it causes me great anxiety. As you can see from the number of my posts on this site, I have a major problem with posting. I thought that someone that posted in this section might understand and be able to give me some tips on how to try to overcome this.

I have not posted this yet and I have already read it three times to make sure it makes sense and that there are no spelling errors. Even if I do click on "Submit New Thread" I will have anxiety about it for awhile just wondering if I missed a spelling error or if I didn't make sense. Right now I am feeling light headed and my hands are getting sweaty. I really hope someone has some tips for me.

No one is going to Judge you and you don't have to be perfect to post in a forum. NO one is perfect so don't try to force yourself too be. God loves you just the way you are if you were perfect then we wouldn't have needed Jesus to come. You post mean just as much as anyones here.

I have some anxieties, sometimes -- I go through phases where I post a lot, then I hide for a while.

Just remember that it's not really you out here on the internet, it's your internet persona. We could be riding next to you on the train tomorrow morning and never know it was you. That's what makes it kind of fun, and easy to talk to other people. It's like being at a party where everyone has a bag over their heads.

Here in this subforum, we're all getting through our anxieties together, so take off your coat, have a seat on the couch, grab a couple of cookies and some punch and relax!

I do not have that particular anxiety, but kudos to you for conquering it to post

I have other anxieties that others consider irrational, though. I can't public bathrooms without freaking out, and riding in a car usually requires a Xanax.

Again, it's great that you posted!! Keep up the strength!!

Thank you everyone for replying. I really appreciate it. It does feel a little reassuring that most of the people in this part of the forum should understand what having anxiety does to someone and won't judge me. It really does mean a lot to me that everyone who replied was nice.

It only took 12 minutes for me to get this post typed out and corrected to my liking. I think next time I post I will try for a shorter time.

PS - I do take medication for my anxiety but there are just some things that it doesn't help with.

I take medication too and some days are a lot better than others.

I had to think of how long I've been posting and I do remember being fearful of posting initially.

Also, remember you can edit even after your post shows up or even delete all of the script and just click on a smiley.

Sometimes copying something, a scripture or a funny joke might help.

You're always welcome here!

I get anxiety sometimes, when I post something on a forum that could lead to something contentious, and someone might say something contentious back. Even if that does not happen, I always get very anxious when reading subsequent replies to anything I write. Even though it's just the internet. I get extremely nervous about what others think of me even though I should not.

No, I don't really experience that, but I commend you for facing your fears and posting anyway. I do disagree about people being judgemental, though. There are people on CF who are arrogant and rude. I don't think any of those folks post in the anxiety forum, though

Way to Go! I think you come to the right place. I think anybody who posts here can understand and have empathy when it comes to dealing with anxiety.
I myself don't have an issue with posting but then again some of my anxiety triggers may not mean much to others.

 Good on you for pushing past and posting. You've got my support
