• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Another Obama Scandal!!!!

So we just have a shot at replacing him? You're suggesting he might try to stay?

Well they couldn't beat him when he ran, so we'll see if they can beat him when he isn't running.

I personally have no idea how to respond to pure sarcasm, that is aimed at belittling me or my group. Sarcastic retorts are often my initial reflex, but, as in sports, so too in CF forums, it is usually the retaliation that gets penalized.

What I personally have ended up doing since my last ban is making full use of the ignore button, so that if all that a poster gives is constant sarcasm, or goading me into doing something reportable, I am not really missing much any way by not having the ability to read all that.
Apologizing for when I do step over the line would be the better reaction for sure, but I haven't yet reached the level of maturity that allows me to do that.:)

Doy doy DOY doy doieeeee! Lol

Republican/Tea Party supporters must be frustrated that despite their best efforts, President Obam's approval ratings have actually increased this week.

While the voting public recognize that these are important issues, they are of the opinion that the president is not personally responsible.

While conservative politicians are exhibiting vast quantities of self-righteous indignation to unify their base, the fact remains that this base is insufficient to win national elections.

Where is the 'self-righteous indignation' of which you speak?

If the American people are happy with a man who lies to them about Benghazi, and have no problem with the IRS used as a political tool, then Obama and his administration is a good fit.

As long as the media are actually starting to get that message out there, and Republicans are holding the governments feet to the fire and exposing all the facts, then the American people can choose accordingly, and the type of government voted in has been voted in under no illusions.

That is what must be expected of a functioning democracy, and all that can be hoped for.

Well, as I thought about it, I realize I shouldn't have done it. :sigh:

It is difficult, however, to put up being called and inferred to be a racist or a sexist on a regular basis without wanting to snap back. Even a dog will only take abuse for so long.
Not only have I not ever inferred you were racist, I have stood up for you on that account. I don't recall ever saying or implying that you were sexist either (since I don't think you are, I don't think I'd've said it).

That doesn't mean that what I did was right, and so I apologize, Daisy. I also forgive you the things you've said. I hope you accept my apology.
Sure, seems sincere. :)

Actually, she seems to be claiming that some of us want to blame Obama for this, as if he authorized it. When I called her out on this and using it for base politics, she accused me of being sexist and derailing her thread. If she didn't want that argued, she shouldn't have included it. Instead, she tried to stop the discussion by making base claims against me and saying I was derailing the thread. So, I'll take her post at face-value.
I didn't actually accuse you of being sexist, I asked if you were because you said, "War on Women indeed." even though one of the examples I gave was of a woman officer getting punished for hitting on a man, because you seemed to think that only women were the victims here and only men were the aggressors.

Well...he IS a Democrat, we have a gift for snatching defeat from the very jaws of victory. :sorry:
tulc(thinks it's one of the main reasons the Republicans still exist, without the Democrats mistakes the Republicans would probably just be a foot note in an old history book) :D

Of course we'd still have those Democrat negatives like slavery, but that's another topic.

Which is utterly remarkable, given the near universal penchant for his followers blaming everything on Bush. But we must all admit, that Obama's color is the key reason his followers put him into office, and why they love him so (though not necessarily personally). One simply cannot argue it had anything to do with the content of his message, at least not and maintain any semblance of credibility (given he has none himself).

So that's why making his color in this scandal so important is altogether amazing - you and I know his color is utterly irrelevant to anything. For others, it's relevant to everything - so bringing it up as an issue here shows how the wheels are beginning to come off his administration - when those who chose him for his race, are now scandalized because of it.

Alinski would be so proud - - - he might even be rapping in his grave. ;)
Of course, it is you and Rion who are the ones making "his color" important in this thread, while pretending that it is other people doing it. Is this one of Alinski tactics you seem to be so impressed by? You've brought his name up at least twice so far.

One of the funny things is that few liberals ever heard of, let alone read, Mr. Alinski's work until right-wingers began the meme.

Obama: Sexual Assault Threatens National Security | Military.com

President Barack Obama emerged from a meeting with Pentagon leaders and service chiefs at the White House on Thursday to say military sexual assault constitutes a national security threat and detailed a three-point agenda intended to combat sexual assault in the military.

Obama said Army Secretary John McHugh offered a good suggestion, saying that those put in charge of preventing these crimes need to be incentivized. He said they should be rewarded for their efforts so they don’t see the job as a sideline. That’s part of accountability, Obama said.

The three points seem a little obvious:
1) Everyone in the chain of command must be held accountable
2) Victims should not be afraid to report it
3) The assaulters should be punished.

Obvious, but never implemented.

It is the culture of no one being held accountable for anything - makes people bold in their power.
Are you referring to the assaulters?

Wow. The Democrats invented slavery? I have to say, the thread where you presented evidence in support of that would be an interesting one indeed.
