  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Another Obama Scandal!!!!

Someone recently pointed out one of Saul Alinski's principles in Rules for Radicals (a tome of pure slime this administration worships as Scripture) was to overwhelm the minds of rational people with the utterly irrational in hopes they'll just give up and allow their tyranny to take over.

^_^ ^_^ How can people type stuff like this without their keyboards spontaneously catching fire.

...but I digress... or... do I?

Well, you something with the letter S in it.

The old adage of if it aint broke, don't fix it applies here. The American military wasn't broke. Fixing it, fixed nothing.

Tell us, oh expert on the U.S. military, when was this wonderful period when it "wasn't broke"? I've literally been around it since I was born and I'd like to compare my experiences with yours.

Na, not worth getting kicked out.

Not saying your opinions aloud doesn't always prevent them manifesting in some way. That's all I'll say on the matter to you.

Sexual assault in the military - Obama must be responsible for that, as well.
It's terrible but he isn't responsible for it.

Women have been in the military for decades (early 1970's, also when military draft ended). If I were to look at the statistics, would there be fewer assaults now or then?

I'm guessing, that there would be FAR FAR fewer now that women have more rights and respect

If anything, this is hypocrisy in part of the instructor, who was teaching a program to prevent this and promote understanding.

Frankly, I can't believe the racism, attempting to involve a black man in something so disgusting as rape, a felony against women.

I think your point will fall on deaf ears. The desire to blame Obama for this is too great.

I don't want to believe Obama's race has anything to do with this, but I can't find where she blamed Bush in similar cases.

We were told that allowing homosexuals to serve openly would have no impact on the services, and yet here we are with this sex scandal

Blame rape on the repeal of don't ask don't tell. Obviously, this is Obama's fault for allowing gays to say that they are gay.

I'd like to point out that gays "served openly" before the repeal of don't ask don't tell - they just couldn't be honest about being gay.

Which is utterly remarkable, given the near universal penchant for his followers blaming everything on Bush. But we must all admit, that Obama's color is the key reason his followers put him into office, and why they love him so (though not necessarily personally). One simply cannot argue it had anything to do with the content of his message, at least not and maintain any semblance of credibility (given he has none himself).

So that's why making his color in this scandal so important is altogether amazing - you and I know his color is utterly irrelevant to anything. For others, it's relevant to everything - so bringing it up as an issue here shows how the wheels are beginning to come off his administration - when those who chose him for his race, are now scandalized because of it.

Alinski would be so proud - - - he might even be rapping in his grave. ;)

Probably because I've set my keyboard settings on "Truth."

Well, you something with the letter S in it.
...and well you.... not something with S in it???

P.S. You should try reading Alinski sometime - particularly before casting derision on those who have. And even if that's not sufficient motivation, Obama knows far more about him than I would ever care to know (particularly given what I do know is cause sufficient for a maintaining a drawer-full of Dramamine).

Um...what does color have to do with this thread beyond your own assumptions that Obama was elected because he's black?

Hi, Morningstar.

I hasten to point out that Obama was not elected because of an outstanding record of accomplishment. I tend to think it was because he was a smooth talker, he presented an alternative to Hillary ... and he wasn't affiliated with George Bush. ;)

I think he was elected because he was a better candidate than McCain, and stayed elected because he was a better candidate than Romney.

I don't think so for two reasons. First, with the forces integrated, more women are more available to assault and second, women have encroached on men's territory and assault is one way of putting them in their place. It seems to be pretty well tolerated by command.

The number of assaults is up recently (in the last year Source).

If anything, this is hypocrisy in part of the instructor, who was teaching a program to prevent this and promote understanding.
Yes, that too.

It's part of a concerted effort of right-wingers to use the term incorrectly and inappropriately so as to render it meaningless. They seem to figure that that way, they won't have to answer when it is used appropriately. It's sort of a "cry wolf" in reverse, something the wolves encourage.

Sure, they will most definitely blame this on Obama, and democrats and liberals as well. From what I have read, they believe that the military should be full of high-strung men ready to kill at a moments notice. This is what happens when you throw a lamb in the middle of a bunch of hungry lions, doncha know?

Sounds good to me as long as they're disciplined and led by calm, reasonable, intelligent men. Their purpose IS to fight for us if we need them to, and I'd rather have a bunch of fearless, testosterone pumping, chauvanist pigs with machine guns protecting me than a bunch of namby pamby girls who are afraid of getting dirty!

As for Obama? I'm sure he had nothing to do with it, but as commander in chief, the buck stops with him.
It would be quite proper to judge his response.

Curious that you introduced race into the discussion then.
It can't be helped. Much as they try to mask its importance to them, the ideology demands it be expressed wherever possible. It's sort of a catch-22. ;)
