  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Another Noah's thread (no stoning please :))

Wouldn't it have been covered in animal poo,
I'm out on that one.

IOW, I doubt it ... but just for doubt's sake.
... soaked in salt water, and generally just a little bit wet?
Again, I doubt it ... but this time for a reason.

Genesis 6:14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.

The Ark had a covering of this pitch stuff on the inside and outside.

I'm sure God used it as some kind of divine weatherproofing.

Noah did his part by faith, and God honored his faith and did the rest.

OK, I'm yet to ask you about poo management in the Ark. Maybe one day...

So this homestead was divinely waterproofed?

I've said before in another thread that that is one area I'm completely at a loss to even speculate on.

Unless God withdrew His hold on it, I would assume it was.

I never really looked at it that way (that it was waterproof), but I suppose it could be.

I wouldn't think there would be a need for this pitch to be strengthened by God's intervention anymore, and probably just waterproofed his homestead on its own.

Do you honestly want us to believe that you actually live in your own pretend childish world of make believe?

Dear Aman.

Can you please look at the Q/A about the objections on many topics including objections from Answers in Genesis?

Dear Ed, All the FAQ does is reinforce my view that it's a fraud. BTW, I also think AIG is a fraud. God Bless you.

Could be, :) yet here is the FAQ about responding to these critiques ...
Frequently Asked Questions

Creationists have no business imagining they are smarter than
anyone else guessing what has happened in the past by looking
at rock formations. I've been on guided tours of rock formations
led by trained rangers. They will tell you that people come up
with new conflicting theories on a regular basis for anything that
you see on the tour. "Nobody knows" is their final word on the matter.

"Trained rangers" is hardly the best source. And the one thing that anyone with even a modicum of training would agree to is that there was no Flood.

It has nothing to do with people being smarter than each other.

Really? It's not necessary to read the Bible to understand the Bible? I do not think that is what the verse is saying.

True, you've mis-quoted the text. It don't say that.
Try using quote marks and the appropriate text.

OK, I'm yet to ask you about poo management in the Ark.

Most animals in the dark will sleep. Hibernation would work fine in this situation for many months. No cleaning, no food needed, no conflicts, and less room. There are no details at all about how the animals behaved, so hibernation may be one of the details not specified.

I thought evidence is important ... and here are debates about the ark ... and how the Bible is wrong and all that.

No one has ever shown the scriptures to be wrong on any point.
Many times the language of the day does not match our English well.

Yes they are. It's their job to inform people.

No, their purpose is to entertain people.

Very few "trained rangers" have taken even one geology class. They are also not supposed to get into arguments with foolish tourists. If someone is blatantly wrong, say someone who believes in the Flood, they are trained to be polite and say "nobody knows".

Oh so so so wrong. Their is a whole branch of Christianity devoted to explaining the errors of the Bible.

Hibernation is not sleep. Most animals sleep at night since they need light tofind their food. Food would still be needed. And please don't forget that biology says there was no global flood.

There was food brought on the Ark and Hibernating animals would not eat or make messes.

And please don't forget that biology says there was no global flood.

My wife needs yearly training to keep her teaching licence.
A biologist does not even need a degree to hold their job.
Biology is the least reproducible and rigorous of the sciences.
Just a step above psychoanalysis.

I have training in Library and Information Science from UWM-Milwaukee.
I'm not able to identify that branch you speak of so far.
Hopefully we have a forum here for that?

Most animals do, in fact, expel waste as they hibernate.

A biologist does not even need a degree to hold their job.

Pretty sure they do. Can't imagine too many places hiring a biologist with absolutely no degree.

Biology is the least reproducible and rigorous of the sciences.

And you base this on your deep and abiding understanding of the field, I take it?
