• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Romans 12.18-21 hot coals upon their heads if you bless them ... cars , houses , kids , job .... ? smoking yet ... bless their shoes , tires , engine , hobbies ? smoke

can't be angry with some one you bless ...
avoid points of contention .... avoid people who are gossips , hate speakers , critical ... pray for them ( Mat. 18.15-21 ) ... if a post is good rejoice , if it is sincere respond , if is is a "fiery dart" ... trash bin & intercession

Good idea plmarquette. However as I am a nervous sort of a person I worry when people start talking about a nuclear holocaust etc. Some Christians have the attitude that we shouldn't worry about that as our real Home is in Heaven etc. It's almost as if they actually want these things to happen in order to hasten the Lord's Return. I know that is a terrible thing to say but it's the impression I get with some Christians who are on this End Times kick. Don't get me wrong I am as interested in eschatology as the next believer and look forward to seeing my Lord face to face but I certainly am not hoping for a nuclear war in order to bring it about!

You're right, in christian circles there's often much stupidity, hypocrisy, dogmatism and prepotence. But that's not God's problem, it's ours... Consider also that you may be being excessively judgemental on others.

In the end, it just doesn't matter how you see others or how good of christians they look in your eyes, only God's final veredict.

That doesn't mean that you shouldn't criticise what you consider wrong; just don't take it too seriously, as if you were the only righteous person on the planet.

Just to get this clear I am a CHRISTian (follower of Christ), when I get angry, at times I start speaking against Christians (like the strict, conservative, extermist ect...), because of all the people who condmen others using the Bible, and using the Bible as a tool of oppression. (Fred Phelps is a great example). I even started comparing Christians with Nazis (dont ask, I was ranting away, I dont really think that), but I build anger in me and let it out at times. But I do take interest in what Ghandi said, "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.", thats sort of how I believe. Even though I am Christian (Liberal), anyway can anyone help me with this issue here? Im just a lay back Christian who follows The Twelve Commandments and what Jesus taught, thats it, not strict...
I can understand your anger, because i suffer from this when it comes to religion too. Although I am a christian, I find that some of the sects are way overblown; the 'my way or the highway' style of teaching should be ignored completely, and TV evangelists should be executed.

My first suggestion to you is to pray. I would suggest praying for help with your anger and also pray for those you are upset with. We are to pray even for our enemies (not saying this is easy to do). We have to remember we are to love as Christ loved and our mighty Savior loved EVERYONE. Sometimes others are best taught by seeing Christ in us.

I certainly don't think I am the only righteous person on the planet, far from it. Indeed I think most Christians are better than me. In some ways I wish I could be like those believers who lack fear and are excited over the thought of an imminent Rapture. While I was biting my nails over the Israeli/Hezbellah (sp?) conflict last summer some Christians seemed really excited about the thought of going Home soon. It saddened me that I could not share their excitement.:sigh:

TV evangelists should be executed.

Well I wouldn't go that far neilius but from what I hear a lot of them are a few sandwiches short of a picnic.:D
