  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

There's plenty of Scripturex - here's a couple.

"Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you." (John 20:21) Jesus said "... Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." (Mark 16:15) "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give." (Matt 10:8).

"And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:" He communicated with the women and told them what to do Matt 28:2-3

Usually when believers see angels, they'll see the dark side and vice versa.

Are there verses in the Bible that describe the appearance of a demonic spirit like it did in Matthew 28:2-3?

It simply boils down to, if you believe accounts like this, you are believing a man or women at their statements. That what they are calming to see is actually true.

This has nothing to do with what is recorded in The Bible, those are inspired revelations from God, and are true.

I just know for me a believer for many of years, who has no mental problems, has not once seen any visions, angels or demons.

So if people, want to take sinful people at their word, that is their prerogative.

Because people now in this age for some reason seek information on or about God, the spiritual world, creation, etc.. outside of what God has provided for humanity in The Bible. The Bible just seems not adequate enough in this day and age.

I'm listening to the book 'The Veil: an invitation to the unseen realm' by Blake K Healy. He's a Christian and claims to have seen both demons and angels since he was a child. This isn't something I learned about growing up as a Methodist and I've always tended to stay away from the subject.

Anyway, now I'm reading this book and wonder what Christians of different denominations think about this kind of 'gift'. It doesn't seem like a gift to me to see demons and it scares me even thinking that there are demons everywhere!
Anyone read the book or familiar with the subject?

I need to be careful.. there is a gift discernment of spirits which as the sweet sweet holy spirit leads.. one could see into the spiritual realm. There should never be any fear.. that right there. Its written God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power love and a sound mind. Then Christ gave us ALL not some not part but ALL power ALL authority over the enemy. Its real.. about this book and person I don't know them

"And it is no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light;" (II Cor 11:14). "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10

"Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." Eph 6:11-13

In Acts Paul speaks of the opening of spiritual eyes to lead the gifted out from the kingdom of Satan into God's. But anyone can say they have this. It has to be tested. Look at his fruits, repentance and love. Jesus said He could do this and spoke to Nathan about seeing angels ascending... And Paul was angry as he walked through, was it Athens, and said that with every idol set up and worshipped, there was a demon.
Acts 26:18

Can see demonic influences such as:
"Their deeds do not permit them to return to their God. A spirit of prostitution is in their heart; they do not acknowledge the LORD." Hosea 5:4

"And , behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. 12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. 13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God." Luk 13 (There's no indication that all sicknesses are caused by the demonic).

A man had an unclean spirit whose name was Legion was very strong, in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones, in great distress until Jesus healed him. Mark 5

Some Scriptures about seeing God's angels -
"And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us." Luk 2

Abraham entertained 3 angels that looked like humans (Gen 18).

Gabriel had a conversation with Mary (Luk 1). angels talked with Lot in Sodom (Gen 19), Jacob's ladder (Gen 28),

"And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." Acts 1

I understand all that, but none of that describes what a demon looks like, it's not recording the manifested appearance of a demon, like it does an angel. Just that they were able to discern that one was possessed by demons. The closest was Satan appearing as an angel of light, which is what he was until he rebelled. God has apparently still allowed him to take on that form. If there are no verses in the bible that detail what a demon looks like, then claiming the ability to see demons is unbiblical.

Just like scripture says,...

1Co 12:8 For to one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom; and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit:
1Co 12:9 to another faith, in the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healings, in the one Spirit;
1Co 12:10 and to another workings of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discernings of spirits: to another divers kinds of tongues; and to another the interpretation of tongues:
1Co 12:11 but all these worketh the one and the same Spirit, dividing to each one severally even as he will.

This is one of the 9 gifts that a Christian can receive once they are filled with The Holy Spirit. It identifies "spirits" just like scripture says. That means that a person operating in this gift could see the outline of a spirit or they could see the details of a spirit, either way they will know when a spirit is nearby and will also know what type it is, good or bad. This gift is also prominent with a person who operates in the gifts of healings.

It is not called the gift of discernment, it is called the "discerning of spirits."

Yes and the author goes into very graphic detail about the many demons he sees everywhere. It was the descriptions that were freaking me out and his descriptions of angels didn't go much beyond 'very beautiful'. I felt like he was intentionally putting fearful, dark images into my (the reader listener's) head.
As someone pointed out, the author is a teacher at Bethel School of Supernatural Studies (think that's what it's called).

Think it's interesting how the ten Egyptian plagues were their gods (Exo).

Also, the names in Scripture had a meaning. The giants in the promised land (OT), those names mean pride, rebellion, fear, sexual sins, greed, etc.

Caleb looked at the enemy and knew it was Yahweh's will for them to have the land. "And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it." Num 13:30

To be honest, I wouldn't waste my time on it. There are just too many people nowadays calling themselves Christian who are doing oddball and weird things instead of scriptural things.

Find older Christian material to educate yourself with, not this new stuff that's full of lies.

There is also Lorna Byrne in Ireland who writes books and posts blogs about seeing various angels and knowing their names and messages.

I think it is good to receive gifts. Starting with the new birth, the still small voice, the inner witness and gifts of knowledge... There is the practical stuff, the blood of Jesus, healing, salvations seen in great effect in CFAN. The late Reinhard Bonnke wrote novels explaining. And his apprentice wrote, Live Before You Die...

That was me that pointed that out lol. Specifically, he heads it up from their Atlanta location and not the main one in CA. I was just asking about biblical records of the appearance of demons being recorded. We have tons for angels, but I have yet to see anything from the Bible that records the appearance (the look) of a demon. It would seem that, besides Satan being able to still appear as an angel of light, that demons can only be felt, so to speak. That they cannot take on a corporeal form in the physical like angels can. It would seem that they can only be sensed, felt, by the wisdom of the Holy Spirit through the gift of discernment. When Jesus cast out Legion, they immediately left the man and went into the pigs but there was still no recording of how they look. Therefore, I can only conclude that when a demon is not attached to a person, whether by possession or outside torment, they are not actually able to be seen but are invisible.

This really makes sense, thanks for your input. I'm glad we can't see them!

That is just you trying to reason things out and assume things. You haven't operated in that gift obviously.

The actual discerning of spirits gift can reveal evil spirits if needed, just as much as angels. Normally evil spirits are hideous looking and can invoke fear in a person, so The Holy Spirit sometimes does not reveal them completely, just their outline and the information about them to be cast down.
