You in a sense do have proof. You simply have to trace a pure Jewish bloodline to today, and look at that person. Anyone who is 100% Jewish should look fairly similar.

Jesus Christ probably was not black although there is a reference to Christ with "hair like wool" and feet of bronze, which would possibly indicate Christ was black.


The reason that I would believe that Christ was not black is because people flocked to him, yet the Roman government did not know him. If Christ were a black man, and people flocked to him, that would have been noticeable.


There is no indication that any of the people (tombs excavated) at Nazareth (Israel) were other than Jewish heritage, short in stature, more slight built... which would indicate the dark olive skin, dark hair, etc... with a population estimation of less than 500 for first-century Nazareth, anyone of Black African descent would have stuck out like a sore thumb.


And "a black Messiah".... that would have created havoc for the Jewish people who were "discriminating" to say the least.

I personally believe He was dark skinned as modern Middle Easterners or maybe a bit darker. If He was descended from David through Solomon then He had some black blood as I believe the Hittites were black and Bathsheba was most likely a Hittite since Uriah was a Hittite. I'm not dogmatic about that however, just an opinion.

Also from the reference in Revelation, the comparison to wool is referring to the color of His hair, not its texture and the reference to His feet being like brass seems to indicate that they were shining brightly "as if they burned in a furnace" but like everyone else has said, it makes no difference. If He were of pure African blood, He would love me no less or I, Him.

Incidentally, I used the same distinction on a predominately black forum once to point out why I didn't believe He was pure African and I was accused of "taking away from the Word of God."

Rev 1:14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

Well--why not? It's not like we have a photo. I think he was. Makes sense. If not black, then definitely Arab. There's no way in hell that he was this blonde-haired, blue-eyed caucasian that most picture books point him out to be. The man was a Middle-Easterner. Well, I think he was probably of olive complexion and perhaps even with dark hair. Aren't those characteristics common through most people native to the Middle East? Mainly because when He was a child, God sent Him, Joseph, and Mary into Egypt to hide from King Herod. So, I figure He must have been able to blend in.

Overall, it really matters not. But it does remind me of a funny story. When I was in 3rrd grade, a student (a white boy) brought in a book to share. The teacher began to read the book, and she had the book turned away from herself so that we could see the pictures. It was a book about the life of Jesus.

Well, I looked and listened in confusion, but by about the 5th page, I raised my hand and said, "Excuse me, but I don't see Jesus."

"Here He is" my teacher said, as she pointed to someone of obvious African descent. Well, needless to say, I was SHOCKED. I just knew that lightening would come from teh sky to strike that teacher and the littel boy for daring to say that Jesus may have been Black.

The funny part is, that I am Black! LOL But I guess that just goes to show how engrained we can be in our own thinking about what Jesus looked like.
