I'm trying to figure out how an Anabaptist could be using the Calvinist icon. I have a hard time imagining two theologies being farther apart.

I don't want to hijack Pastor George's thread but I am curious, so if you'd be willing to discuss this, could you start a new thread and post a link here?

BTW, I could be completely wrong. I know I have some Eastern Orthodox friends who think Anabaptist theology is as far from theirs as possible, but there are some major ideas we share in common. I'm truly curious about what Anabaptist and Calvinist theology share in common, besides both having arisen in Switzerland at about the same time.

In what ways do you think the that anabaptist theology and Calvinism are in contradiction?

Did not the Anabaptist Reformer Urlich Zwingli believe the doctrines of grace?

I'm like way cool with just being a Christian. I more often refer to myself as a Christian-at-large than an anabaptist. I am a follower of Christ who happens to be affiliated with the anabaptists' statement of faith.

an Anabaptist icon would be cool. I'm Mennonite, but I've been using the Baptist icon cuz it's the closest to anabaptist that's here, and my bf is Baptist and I sometimes go to his church.

I would support an Anabaptist or Quaker/Mennonite etcIcon. Although I don't know that I agree with calling Quakers Anabaptists perse but I think it's a good idea.

Most anabaptists won't do a cross, either. I have only been to one anabaptist church that had a cross on it. The rest don't have any markings at all, or they have a ram caught in a thicket, ala Abraham and Isaac.
