I’m guessing that black market and supply chain have been conflated for some reason.

Against for sure. It cuts business in half. And black market dealers still run the risk of being jailed. Maybe more of a risk because the state doesn't want profits impeded by the black market. Desk trauma is explaining it well.
How would decimalizing their product cut their business in half? Why would there need to be a black market for a legal substance? Have marijuana growers suffered from it being legalized? Do you think they didn't lobby for legalization? How much of a back market is there now in states where marijuana was legalized?

Before marijuana was legalized in my state, I didn't have any idea of how to go about buying it. Now I know I just have to go into the shop that's literally next door to where I shop for groceries.

I hope you're not suggesting that anyone on this forum grows their own cannabis and distills their own likker...

I wrote that the desire for narcotics to be legalized (euphemistically called decriminalized) is one of the issues that motivated people to vote democrat. To which I was told nobody says that and those are GOP talking points etc. And then for two or three pages several people that I'm quite sure voted democrat (or would have if they were a US citizen), have gone on and on about how they want to see narcotics legalized (or whatever euphemism that amounts to the same thing).

It's like I've said all along, I don't get what a lot of people who vote democrat want from the listening to the GOP or Fox etc, I get it from reading what they themselves have to say. This thread has been a perfect example of that. The same goes for eliminating abortion laws and being in favor of public schools teaching young kids the whole LGBTQ ball of wax, including they can be several different genders, several different sexual orientations (hence LGBTQQIAAP2+), that there's no such thing as male and female, although men can be pregnant etc.

It would be nice if folks would just openly admit that's what they want, and that they expect to have a better chance of it happening though the democrat party being in control of the presidency, senate and congress.

Let the deflecting accusations against me in response resume.

Decriminalization and Legalization are separate things.

Until the recent moves to change how cannabis is treated federally I thought the current administration may have actually been worse on drug policy given the presidents views.

Just because they think we're on the wrong track doesn't mean they want Republicans to derail it.
Well, if the track leads to a cliff, getting derailed is not a bad option.

Yes, kind of like sinking in quicksand and refusing to grab a rope thrown by someone you don't like.
More like, sinking in quicksand and refusing the help of the person trying to help by tossing you a stick of lit dynamite and opting for the help from the guy who is throwing you a rope that probably can't support your weight.

The only dynamite was the continual whining and made-up agitation from the left in an otherwise great four years of the Trump administration. It's evident Dems realize they chose poorly from all the lame anti-Trump excuses they have for voting for Biden. They can't just say outright we'd like to have Trump and good times back or it would be like a confession of ignorance. It's sad that republicans will likely think they have to put up a lesser-qualified candidate to try to win over those fragile egos, which I doubt will work... Dems are on a Titanic cruise.

Yeah, I changed that to not instead of never because that crossed my mind too. When is the last time Bayer et al manufactured heroin or opium in general in the form of laudanum? Over a hundred years ago.
You sure about that? The Harrison Narcotics Tax Act only banned OTC sales and marketing of opiates, not prescription use (that wasn't added until 10 years later), and even though it's now classified as a Schedule I substance, that doesn't mean that it's wholly prohibited to manufacture it. It's just subject to strict quotas and controls, same as all Schedule I substances. I can almost guarantee that Bayer still makes small quantities of heroin.

You answered your first question with your last sentence. If it's legalized, most people will buy it at the shop next to the grocery store instead of at the dealers house.

There's a black market for a variety of legal stuff. Cars, ADHD meds, phones, opiates, humans etc.

Most growers I know don't grow for business purposes. Cannabis is medicinal friend. Your ignorance of its benefits and use illustrates why our government’s suppression of this beneficial gift was so misguided and unfair. Many Americans were prevented from discovering how useful the plant actually is. Chinese folks have enjoyed its benefits for thousands of years. As of today our inept government still has the plant on the Schedule I drug list with heroin, preventing its study and legal use from being employed. But I suppose some growers would profit from legalization by selling their wares to dispensaries. And users as well.

There's always going to be a black market for cannabis. I can't really speak on this much because I haven't been involved with the cannabis black market for many years.

The discussion was in regard to the manufacturing and trafficking of hard narcotics. Also I've used CBD. Wanna give it another go?

No, thank you. Your question I answered invoked marijuana several times, not hard narcotics. So have a good day friend.

If you look at post #243 you'll see where I was using the legalization of marijuana as a comparison in my conversation with The same as prohibition and alcohol has been used as comparison in this thread in my long conversation with Desk Trauma.

Folks who want legalized narcotics aren't going to stop wanting it with the legalization of marijuana in every state. That's just for starters.

Yet you didn't descend into addiction and life on the street there after. It's those other people who cannot be trusted with such gate way drugs.

It depends on how stoned someone wants to get and how prone they are to addition. Also I only tried CBD for anxiety caused by palpations due to a benign cardio-electrical issue, which was solved with a beta blocker.

Anyways people who become drug addicts start off with the soft stuff like marijuana. Just like alcoholics start off with beer or wine and eventually end up guzzling Wild Turkey. People who become addicted to smoking start off puffing Marlboro lights and end up chain smoking Pall Mall unfiltereds. Legal or not, it's all bad stuff to get into for way too many people.
