Amateur photographer thread.

[Everybody seems to be full of nerves and false modesty, so will everybody be cunningly fooled into posting their pictures in this thread if I call it an "amateur" photographer thread? ]

I'll start it off. I got a camera about 6 months ago and decided to start taking photos ~3 months ago, so you'll have to forgive me- these are pretty much the first photos I've taken in my life...

This one is kinda alright. I fiddled around with some colour adjustment stuff and other complicated stuff in photoshop but it only seemed to detract from the softness of this picture.

Experimenting with my camera's "solarize" effect. I wasn't expecting anything much from a cheap camera's built-in effect, but this turned out pretty neat, for one of my photos anyway.

"Solarized" photo of some country from a moving car.

I had a photo like this but less blurred and with more city lights down the bottom, but I lost it. This one isn't as good, but I still like it.

Here is an attempt at making something in photoshop completely from scratch, which is something new to me (obviously text effects don't count). It's a cartoon-ish looking sea view, if you couldn't tell (nobody's blaming you ).

Inverted. Please note, I thought this created a cool atmosphere, and am aware of how awful it is when an invert is used just for the sake of it. No, this is cool .

Feedback? Don't be too harsh, I haven't really made anything from scratch without sampling other people's pictures and stuff in PS before, so this is new ground for me. Try to be constructive...

First. would it be possible for people to use smaller pics or just the thumbnails? Just to make it fair on thems of us with dial-up

Anyway.
Love the first 3 there. The red/purple effect is cool and I deffinately want to know more about 'solarize'. The fourth one is a bit to brown and dull for my tastes but that is just a personal thing, in a technical sense it is a great photo.

I don't know anything about making stuff in photoshop so no comment there except that the red one is cool.

I was gonna upload a couple of macro shots of mine but the internet is being sucky tonight
