  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

so, as many of you might know i am a very liberal catholic, i belive in abortion and in gay marriage...i also believe in the death penalty and in free speech

i listen to rock music and i listen to some rap where many times there is some sort of sexual inneundo...i also listen to christina aguilera who has no problem talking about her sexual escapades...i have no problem with "satanic saturday night" and often watch saturday night live..and can't wait for tonight when sex in the city appears on regular tv so i can finally see what all the hubbub is about.

i do not believe that you must save yourself for marriage..i believe that if you are in a loving commited relationship...

i also don't believe much of the bible..i believed that us flawed humans wrote much of it and out our hatred into it

i also have no problem with pagans and think they are okay people...i swear a little too much and i am a bit too mean to people i like..and i am quite mean to my republican friends..

so my question is..am i going to hell? or will your ultra-conservative god forgive me for straying? :help:

Oh Aduro I think salvation is quite straight forward
Care to explain it then? Is it by Faith alone? Is it by Faith + Actions? Is it by being a member of the "correct" denomination of Christianity (whatever might be)?

Ahh Aduro already judging me huh?

Salvation is by accepting Jesus as your lord and savior by what it is described in the bible (im sure you know this) and living for him , as if you truley love Jesus you would also do what he says correct but if you only did it through emotion or guilt or whatever it may not be genuine but God knows the heart
did i explain this correctly? as in do you get what i mean?
and no church does not mean you are a christian

Well...your very good at reapeating word for word what people are taught to say about salvation. Uhh..I notice people describe their salvation experience pretty much the same way as those closest to them do. However, this varies from church to church, denomination to denomination. I mean does speaking in tounges hold much meaning to you? If not, some would say you haven't really been saved.

I can't say whether or not you're going to Hell but I don't see how you can reconcile some of these things with being a new creation in Christ.

Jesus said, "If you love Me, then keep My commandments" but you seem to want to thumb your nose at His commandments.

Like I said, I have no way of knowing whether or not you're saved but the Bible says that we can know people by the fruit they're producing. The fruit you're describing doesn't sound like that of someone who has been reconciled to God through Christ.

I think that this is the point where Jesus would ask you the same thing He asked Peter: "Who do you say that I am?"

Katherinethegreat....

Your question of whether you are going to go to hell has to be found in your own beliefs. I urge you to read what people write and take it lightly, so that you can form your own opinion about certain aspects of your faith, but don't solely base them on what everyone else tells you to believe. You have out inside yourself whether you believe in hell or whether God is capable of making hell and how he can send you there. Maybe you should get some philosophy books from the library or bookstore and look at all sides of what people believe about hell.

Personally, I don't think there is a hell. I think that if there is a God, that he wouldn't give us free will to do anything we want but have to leave it up to ourselves to figure out what will grant us the keys to everlasting eternity in heaven or burning in hell. There is no straight set of rules. Investigate yourself. There is no right or wrong answer.

Good post, flicka.
The concepts of salvation, punishment and rewards are as diverse as they can be. Personally, I don't believe in a literal, eternal hell, so...

But, i think the more fair answer is it's impossible, it's not given us to know about such subject for sure. Each one of us follow God's Law the best way we can uderstand, the way it makes more sense to our heart and mind. Now, who will arrive faster, who will take more time... honestelly, I don't know - and I am not eager to discover too soon

We don't know who will be saved and who won't be. Only God can make a just judgement of your soul.

However, I sincerely hope you'll, in time, grow in your Catholic faith and aim for orthodoxy of belief.

Why don't you come to One Bread, One Body board more often? There are a lot of very wise people there who'll be very pleased to discuss and enlighten you on Church matters.
It has certainly helped me a lot.

Is there a more persuasive way to remind all of us Christians of the necessity of an infallible authority on matters of faith, lest we shall each one of us fall for uncountable heresies?
