  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Well...your very good at reapeating word for word what people are taught to say about salvation. Uhh..I notice people describe their salvation experience pretty much the same way as those closest to them do. However, this varies from church to church, denomination to denomination. I mean does speaking in tounges hold much meaning to you? If not, some would say you haven't really been saved.

Well thats what it says in the Bible so if many other people say the same thing then im right then arnt i ?
there is difference with doctrine and faith what i have said is the way to get salvation tounges I believe in but not neccessary for salvation

There are over 6 billion people on earth. You may think that's a whole lotta people. I agree. How big is the universe and possible world's within that endless universe? I think a a lot more than 6 billion worlds. Therefore those who think they will go to hell they will, because they are asking for it. Those who want to go to heaven will go there. Those who want to be in some other place will end up there after death. My point is that if the universe can hold Earth, Hell, and Heaven it can hold a lot more worlds.

Is there a more persuasive way to remind all of us Christians of the necessity of an infallible authority on matters of faith, lest we shall each one of us fall for uncountable heresies?

Huh? If you mean by saying something over and over again you will start to believe it then we are in agreement.

No. Most people will just repeat what they have heard other people saying in order to be accepted by the 'group'. Christians themselves will be the first to admit that most people claiming to be Christians really are not (they themselves are of course) and that anyone who deconverts was never a real Christian in the first place. I'm sure you can see how confusing it all is to the casual observer.

to me i see a lot of people who think they know the bible but just know someone elses spin off of it. if they knew the bible they would know not to judge maybe have an opinion but not to judge , hence this is why i didnt answer the OP question. there a lot of people who represent Christianity bad but that doesnt make Christianity bad any more than a few bad black people make the Black race bad if you know what i mean

i have no problem with "satanic saturday night" and often watch saturday night live..
SNL is great, so is MadTV...a little more edgey right now than SNL
and can't wait for tonight when sex in the city appears on regular tv so i can finally see what all the hubbub is about.
Eh, can't relate there.

i also have no problem with pagans and think they are okay people
For devil-worshipping, Christian God-hating pagans ;)

so my question is..am i going to hell? or will your ultra-conservative god forgive me for straying? :help:

Well everything would be forgivable except for the Christina Aguilera...so here's your handbasket :D

You know no one can answer this for certain, but it's my personal opinion that as long as you profess your love for God (in all his forms) and be a trustworthy representative for Him here on earth while cultivating the fruits of the spirit, I think you stand as good a chance as any other Christian.

But seeing as I can concur with many of your views...if you are not, then I'll see ya "down below". Don't forget your personal fan (and plenty of batteries) or your air conditioned collar ^_^

i do not believe that you must save yourself for marriage..i believe that if you are in a loving commited relationship...

i also don't believe much of the bible..i believed that us flawed humans wrote much of it and out our hatred into it

i also have no problem with pagans and think they are okay people...i swear a little too much and i am a bit too mean to people i like..and i am quite mean to my republican friends..

so my question is..am i going to hell? or will your ultra-conservative god forgive me for straying? :help:
I am not going to judge you in anyway, only God is to Judge if you are going to heaven or to Hell.

Paul touches on this in at the beginning of his letter to the Romans.

God is a forgiving God and we are reminded of this over and over again throughout scripture, but Paul reminds us in Romans that just because God shows us His grace, this doesn't mean that we sin all the more. We all sin, ("no one is righteous"), but we're also taught to repent. To be transformed. To make every effort to be Christ-like.
Romans 3:20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.

We are not justified by our works but by our faith:
Romans 5:1,2 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

Like many on this forum, I won't say "yes you are going to hell" or "no you aren't." That's between you and God. Christians are warned about passing judgment on each other:
Romans 12:1-3 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment?

Verse 4 goes on to explain why God shows us all such grace:
Romans 12:4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance?
Paul is very clear in his message to the Christians, though, that we are not to take advantage of God's grace. That this doesn't mean that sin is OK. That it doesn't matter what type of life we live:
Romans 5:20,21 The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 6:1-7 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin-- because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.

Romans 6:11,12 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.
As I said above, it isn't up to me (or any of us) to decide how God will judge you. He gives us grace and because of that grace, we are saved. None of us is "good enough" to earn heaven on his/her own.
Romans 3:23 24 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

And for this reason we should be humbled in God's presence and forever grateful for the greatest gift that He's given us. (Eternal life). Whether or not you have accepted that gift is between you and Him.
Romans 6:22,23But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Is anybody a big fan of Niche? One of his most interesting books is called the "Origin of Good and Evil" In this book he analyzes human nature and how we as humans interpret the physical world. The word "interpred" already suggests to us that we are rational beings. We look at the world from a logical perspective and that is partially why we survive. For example, when we are cold we put on a warm sweater. When we are hungry we eat.If we didn't use such logic we would probably be dead.

Same idea that Niche is communicating to us in this book. He explores words like "good" and "evil" What is the origin of these two words? He continues by tellin a story that when Jews were slaves of Egypt, as we all know it from our history books, they had to somehow overcome the cruelty inflicted upon them by egyptians. They were subject to hard labor, they were disrespected and were treated as dirt. The only way that they could survive the cruelty is by creating this world were they could escape into; they called it heaven. Wouldn't you? I would. This after life world consisted of "God" who loves them and accepts them and will punish those who mistreated them by sending them to Hell.

The point is, there is no hell or heaven, and if there was then there would be other worlds. Why only two possibilities? There isnt just one star in the sky, there is infinite number of stars. Man, there is probably an infinite number of dimesions for all we know.

Hell and heaven was created by humans, it was created to control masses of people by instilling fear in them. In fact, that's how civilization came about. If we didnt fear anything we would kill eachother off. This methodology was affective at one point but we are beyond that now. Would any of you kill if you didn't believe in god? Probably not. Then why are you holding on to god? Instead of sitting here and debating over something insignificant such as hell or heaven why don't you contribute to the future generations. For example, banning of the use of oil and start the use of Hydrogen as the main source of energy. Or fight for the budget and approval from the government in order to continue stem cell research. Dont be selfish and sit there and worry about your soul.

You are right that no one can come to Christ unless God the Father calls him.

If a god punishes you because you're the way he made you, he's the kind of god that deserves hell, not you
If I were you and made a statement like that, I'd be on my knees asking for forgiveness before it's too late. You might do well to read the Bible--start in Genesis.

I cannot vote, because only God can see your heart, and I think (maybe)you are bragging a bit.But if you seriously want an answer to your question, just ask yourself:"Am I following Jesus,am I one of His followers?"The new Testament tells us about Jesus and His Truth,it was written by men and women who were the Lord`s followers.Sincere greetings from Emmy,a sister in Christ.
