I am not inclined to fret over anything. If you think of baptism as optional then perhaps the Salvation Army congregation would provide a good home for you.

I do not think anybody worries too much about church buildings. We have them and they are convenient and useful but they are just buildings and they will pass away just as everything else in this world must, eventually.

The law of love is wonderful especially because it is grounded in God's love for us.

By the way, have you read any books about holiness? I remember, from quite a few years back, reading THE PURSUIT OF HOLINESS and also J C Ryle's work on Holiness. I think that both books might be educational if you have not read them yet.

Be of good cheer, and please, do not allow anything upset you so much that you lose your temper. Remember that, on GT, you always have time and proof reading as tools to moderate anything you want to say.

God bless.

GT has never worked, it never will. I just cant handle it.

SDA is Seventh Day Adventism. There are a number of Seventh Day Adventists on GT; I am sure that one or more of them would be willing to explain to you anything you are curious about.

How about you give us a short statement of your beliefs and your priorities and then maybe somebody will recognise it as matching their own?

I just need a place that teaches baptism and all that good stuff, but isnt bound so tightly to legalism that they would reject me over water, a place that puts more weight behind faith, is not legalistic yet is not against the rules found in the NT. A place that will nurture me instead of play hard ball all the time, thats what i hate about GT, hardball all the time.

Am i asking for too much?

You might be asking too much. I am not sure really.

May I ask why you want a place where baptism is taught but at the same time you do not want to be rejected over water - I confess I am not sure what you mean by this; is it that you believe in baptism but that you are not baptised yourself and for some reason are not going to be baptised any time soon?

A place where kids respect their elders too, that would be nice. I may even learn from it myself
<humorous remark to follow>My avatar is a 1000 year old man, surely I deserve respect!<end of humour>

Respect for one's elders is present with some young folk and absent with others; I think this is how it has always been, some are respectful and some are not.

Yes i believe in baptism but i am not baptized. If i went to church i would get baptized, my faith has sustained me so far and water hasn't stood in the Lords way in guiding me, so i guess im saying i believe in baptism but my faith is not in water, its in Him.

Its hard enough humbling oneself, having a kid dissrepect you isn't helpful

I see. I do not think anybody places their faith in baptism's waters. I do not.

You would be surprised. Many think that ritual is what saves us. I once did too, but being forced to go without has taught me differently.

I think that God saves us, in an act of grace he does it because he loves us. Baptism is a means of grace like the Lord's supper and prayer and hearing the scriptures and many other things are. Some means of grace are linked to physical actions and physical things - such as baptism and the Lord's supper - and some means of grace are linked to ideas and personal convictions - such a prayer and the reading or hearing of scripture - but in all of these things it is God who acts to save and to give growth. Do you agree?

I do agree. BUt i think if someone was in my position that faith alone is all they need. My faith tells me that i should not be a rebel and reject baptism, but it tells me that i dont need it to be saved or seek God, if there is no one to baptize me that is. If i reject it i am a rebel, but i dont reject it, i just let faith be faith because i have no choice.

I am mature but not old, not yet :p

I get respect from some and disrespect from others and because in GT nobody can see one's face it is all too easy for disrespect to creep in. When it does let is pass around, over, or through you, it will pass and you will remain. If it is a matter of restraining disrespect in your own mood then pause, read again what you type, and change the words so that they are not disrespectful. Never send a post too hastily, we can all wait a while - a little while longer - for responses to what we've written.

It's not the water. Baptism is a lot of things, such as a public statement of your faith, and it creates a bond between you and your Lord. It is also obeying the command of the Lord. Of course, Catholics believe it remits sins, but even if you don't believe that, you should find a Church and get baptized. Or, you can even have someone--anyone--baptize you: with water, and in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit (the Scriptural way of being baptized).
