I have been a Christian since I was 4. Been down some rocky roads. My faith has waivered at times. In 1996, I fell in love and got engaged to Kristy Holtz back in Hutchinson,MN. That December she died in a car accident 2 days before my birthday. I was devastated. The music I got her listening to before she died was Guardian's "Buzz" and "Swing Swang Swung" She wasn't really into Christian music until then. These albums really broke the ice with us about her faith. She was very private about it, but she did believe in God, and ultimately, in my heart I think she accepted Christ for herself. After she died, I played those to cds like they were the only cds that existed. The bible storys and lyrics really got me through especially "Lions Den" and "See you in Heaven"
Awhile after she had passed, I went to Guardian's last concert "Bottle Rocket" in Minnesota on April 24, 1998 at Bethel College Benson Great Hall. lt was awesome. They said they were selling their cds, giving autographs, and giving away that Les Paul glitter green electric guitar after the concert at a bookstore just a mile or two away. So I went. When I got there, to no surprise, the place was packed. I couldn't stay very long, so an autograph was out of the question. I just wanted to see the guys (from afar). So I was not in line, just walking around looking at books and stuff. When out of nowhere Carl Ney (the drummer) walks up to me and asks me how I'm doing how did I like the concert. I said I loved it, and told him how much i appreciated their music and quickly told him my story. Before I knew it, he grabs me and takes me TO THE FRONT OF THE LINE. I couldn't be lieve it. It was like a dream come true. All the guys said hello. They were all so nice. For the life of me, I would have never expected any thing like that experience. A small gesture like that can mean so much. That experience really encouraged me to get through my depression of losing Kristy. Thank you Karl, Tony, David and Jamie.
I got married in 2000 to my beautiful wife Angela here in Colorado. She is a dream come true. I will never forget about Kristy, but I will see her again. Thank you God for a second chance in life. Praise Be TO God.
