Only makes God a liar if God said that Genesis is a literally accurate historical document. Strangely enough, he's never said this. God speaks through parables, metaphors, myths and stories all the time - none of those make him a liar. A conviction that God wouldn't lie (through the creation that he spoke) is one of the reasons why many TEs agree with evolution.Gwenyfur said:Creation and the Bible state:
Genesis 2:2
And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Exodus 20:11
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Exodus 31:17
It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
Evolution says:
"Millions of years"
Figure it out ...

I don't think he ever said "entire". In his entire post. Parts of the Bible are allegorical, parts are not. It's up to us, the readers, to discover which is which. The Genesis account is certainly allegorical, as evidence found in the natural world directly contradicts a literal Genesis interpretation. The crucifixion was likely truth, as we have very little evidence to contradict it and a decent amount of evidence to support it.Gwenyfur said:I didn't know the *entire* Bible was in parables...
I guess the story of crucifixion was a parable too then?
What about the lessons of Paul...
And Joshua states that the Sun stood still, not that the earth stopped rotating.[/QUOTE]Gwenyfur said:Creation and the Bible state:

heh and here I though Y'shua was the only Truth..
Perhaps it's lack of practice. We (teachers) don't often teach through stories anymore once children get above a certain age, so people aren't used to learning through them. It's a shame because the people of old knew what they were doing; stories are a very powerful tool for teaching people of all ages - even in the Mathematics classroom. I wonder if people expect God to teach in the style of the teachers they had at school.gluadys said:So...we need to learn how to listen to the parables, metaphors, myths and stories God is telling us.
After all, if people 2,000 years ago could do it, we should be equally capable. Or have we become too stupid to comprehend a story?
All truth comes from God, wherever it is found. Whether you found it in the Bible, in the Chronicals of Narnia, in a science textbook, in the Sydney Morning Herald, in the Holy Quran, or whereever.Gwenyfur said:So science decides which is allegorical and which is historically true...
